a whole lotta wind...unless it is anchored with hurricane straps
Hire me to come down and do it for you.....![]()
La Gringa, are you looking to lift an existing roof higher, or erect a new roof all together? If its an existing roof take some pics of the outside and inside. If there is no roof just pics of the outside will do and post dimensions of the building. You could go with a rafter system or trusses which I would recommend in your area due to the occasional wind issues. You can build your own with 2x lumber and plywood. Would be cheaper than importing premade trusses I would think.
Nauti.... thank you...!!! I'll bear that in mind if we ever decide to actually raise that roof.
I am teasing Robja because he put a comment on Gringo's blog about raising the roof to accomodate our boat.... and well, you can see the problem with that!!!
We just put in that driveway up to the garage about ten days ago.... and plan someday to build over the garage but for now, it's a concrete deck..!!![]()
You'll have to lower the antenna, but a concrete blade in a skill saw will fix your problem
AAAAAAHHHHHH
I see you noticed my comment in the blog. It just seemed to me a lot of money was spent to make a new drive up to a garage that the boat wouldn't fit in. I'm sure Nauti can come down and engineer you a solution. It was an enjoyable read in your blog and when I saw the pic i felt compelled to comment on it.
The driveway was so that Gringo could bring the boat to our house instead of working on it in the water (oops, dropped that part/tool?) at the boatyard (a 20 mile roundtrip - need a different tool and it's at home?
). And after last year, even the slightest threat of a bad storm we want our boat on land where we can keep an eye on it. The trailer is too long to make the turn to the other part of the driveway.
And anyway, it was all part of the original plan and design we just couldn't afford it when we were building. And actually, it has vastly improved the whole look of the place - like we are more blended into the hill than plopped on top of it.
