And if my father found out, I got more at home. But he used a leather belt. Except for the times he used to tell me to go cut a switch. Which he would use unless I cut one too small.

We all had pocket knives, of course. Would have considered it Chicken-sh*t for someone to pull one in anger. during dove season, half the pickup trucks in the high school parking lot had shotguns in the racks in the rear window. During deer season, they had rifles. I mean, you didn't leave an expensive one in plain view, with the door unlocked. But an old bolt action Mauser, or a 30-30 was perfectly safe. Yeah, the doors were locked. But I never heard of one getting stolen, or used in anger.
YOU MUST HAVE GONE TO THE SAME SCHOOLS AS I DID IN SILSBEE TEXAS. I WAS LATE 3 TIMES TO ENGLISH CLASS AND THE TEACHER SENT ME TO THE OFFICE FOR 3 LICKS OF THE OAK PADDLE WITH THE HOLES IN IT. I CAN'T EXPLAIN TO YOU THE PAIN........

MY DAD PLAYED THE SAME GAME YOURS DID. I GOT IT WORSE WHEN I GOT HOME. HE TOO HAD AN OAK PADDLE. USED AS I TOUCHED MY TOES!!!

IT'S A DIFFERENT WORLD I TELL YA. AND WE'RE WORSE OFF FOR IT.

I had a great aunt and uncle who lived in Silsbee for as long as I can remember.

I went to school in Cypress, Texas.

    Not all teachers do this!!!!!

Don't bad mouth all teachers because of a few bad apples.
Most teachers believe it or not are not very liberal.

You would be surprised of all the good things that happen in public schools. Just like was said earlier about Jacko, people only talk about the bad stuff. That is why that case went to the supreme court.

If your teachers have the authority to search a student for an aspirin tablet, yeah, they're part of the problem.

It's all this political correctness, and compounded by the liberal media.

    Ask yourself, honestly,
If you heard some songs by Melissa Etheridge.
If you heard Karma Chameleon by Boy George.
If you heard almost anything by Michael Jackson,

and yet you were prevented from knowing ANYthing about the artist. no photographs. no media coverage of their lifestyle, nothing but their names...

    Would you like their music?

So, you don't like Etheridges music ( or a bunch of others) because they are homosexual, or Michael Jackson because of his personal life...

You are being ruled by Political Correctness. It has nothing to do with the music. If you were an honest judge of music, you would collect all three of those artists works.

But you don't. You have been influenced by others, and the media. You won't allow yourself to appreciate music because of something totally unrelated to music.

Well, you gotta pay your dues if you wanna sing the blues, and you know it don't come easy.

Would you listen to hard core blues by Marie Osmond? Why not?

    Think about that.

Marty, you and I go waaaay back. No big deal man, you have your opinion and it's cool. Everyone is entitled to theirs also. I started this as a simple RIP to him and it turned into more. I honestly believe MJ was mentally not all there and wanted to live out a childhood he never had. I honestly don't believe that he molested any children. I believe he felt more comfortable with kids than adults, but not in a sexual or deviant way. If it is proven that he did molest kids then he deserves to be punished like no other. I believe he did all the surgery to be someone other than the worn out and battered person he grew up as. But the man made music that will live on forever and is in my mind the best entertainer ever. He was weird and different to most, but most great people in our history were also in some way. I say he was a humanitarian because of all he did for starving people all over the world all through the early 90's and late 80's. Look up "USA AFRICA" and "WE ARE THE WORLD" foundations. He gave money to charities to a fault. He sold 3/4 of a billion records worldwide and inspired a ton of music we have today. The music videos as we know it today no matter what type of music began with "Thriller". Look at the whole picture before you judge a person. If any of you can show me proof that he was a pedophile or abused kids, then I'll be all on your side. The fact is that proof does not exist, and it's all media hype because the man was waaaay different for sure. You all think about what is proven for a fact before you make judgement on a person without facts. You also remember this while you all celebrate all the other musicians that have passed away that were proven drug addicts, drunks, etc. There are so many musicians that are dead due to drug overdoses and lived criminal lives and are celebrated now. Rock and Roll stars were expected to be drunks, druggies, etc. But you all jump on someone who wasn't convicted of anything because he was different. This is MY opinion and that's it, but I'm not alone because I could hear all the MJ songs playing today in traffic from all the other cars. I see all the tributes on TV. I also see all the musicians that he inspired. Say what you want and it's all good to me no matter what you say. RIP Michael Jackson.....now I'm going to go kill some fish again in the a.m.

As I heard earlier today "Turn down the chatter, and turn up the music".
