Seems like a great idea to me.
How did you rig 'em for pulling at 6knts? Standard Kmac way with jig head and trebles down the side?

Life is not a popularity contest...
Ribeyes
I got a 154lb yellowfin last`year out of Port Aransas, Tx last year on a big ribeye bump trolled over north baker rock on a speedmaster and 30lb. My deckhand fought it the last hour and a half and when i stuck it he hit the rail and puked his guts out, it was hot as hell.
I worked on head boats for several years in that area when I first started and we caught quite a few wahoo and sailfish on drifted ribbons over our offshore rocks. I can remember catching a couple of large tarpon doing the same thing a little further inshore.
Another thing is when we get biscuit(bycatch) from shrimpers for tuna fishing there are alot of ribbonfish in the bicuit and i'm talking 250'+, so you know there are lots of them out there.

I rigged them with a single nose hook with 3 #2 vmc trebles on 90lbs AMF Sevenstrind place a 1/4oz egg to wire and wrap it down tight to there jaw. Maybe The Box will take and post a pic. for me.I bring one to him if he would like.If anyone needs any I sale them $5.00 for one or $60.00 a doz.

As Capt Mike mentioned, bump trolling (in and out of gear) will produce big time here in Texas. We'll troll a couple back with chin weights. Usually one has one oz, the other three oz... We don't troll at 6 kts (3-4 most of the time). 90% of the strikes come once you engage the transmisson and start pulling. Let the baits sink for 15-30 seconds between bumps and get ready! They hit once that bait starts up.
Ugly SOB's... and if you end up with some at the end of the day, mix them in with your chum mixture... adds a little something which the mahi go nutz over.

DO WHAT??
They work great for a variety of species, and you can go up by the port wall in MHC @ night, with a gotcha plug in the warmer months and catch them by the basketful...

Had a sail try one in a king tournament this past summer. Might make a good teaser bait.

As an aside, has anyone ever trolled a good sized eel out in the deep to see what might eat it?
