Renaming a boat

I just bought a boat last night and I hate the name the owner has on it (ORCA). I thought there was some sort of superstition on renaming a boat after it was named. Any info would be appreciated.

not if its your boat. even the exxon valdez got a new name. so far it has not hit anything else.

The only thing I worry about is making sure the old name is taken off before you put the new one on.

Your treaddin on very very thin ice. There is a way to do it with upsetting the gods. It involves a lot of leg work but it is do able.

Fishpicker as soon as I find a virgin crack ho, I'll call ya. Everything else should be doable. Luckily the name is not painted on, its the vinyl lettering so I think I can peel it off. Bird dog its a 28 Bertram. A lot bigger and hopefully more comfy than my 25 walk around was. I don't think the boat is documented. I didn't receive documentation about it being documented, just the title, registration, and bill of sale.
