Remington Model #33 Built in 1933
While it has more sentimental than monetary value, the job was a great pleasure. I used several kits, including Birchwood Casey Gun Stock Refinisher, and Gun Bluing Kit (www.birchwoodcasey.com). I was pleased with both, although I had to bring the barrel into a very talented gunsmith near me to redo the uneven bluing, and decided to nickel the trigger. The entire project took about 25 hours over 2 weeks, not including drying time and fixing my errors. Please Enjoy Kahi Miami, FL Last edited by Kahi; 11-03-2009 at 05:54 PM. |

Don't Miss The Boat,
Some of the best (and most memerable) times I've had with my daughter came with shooting and hunting. Alot of folk's get it in their head that they've got to have a boy or a girl. I'll take what ever come's. I've got several "old" gun's I got when I was a kid, most were used, but it didn't matter mom & dad gave em' to me. All are still in use every year. Glad you posted the project up, good luck with the family. Frank

That turned out very nice. Next time just try redoing the bluing yourself most times a second "dip" will even everything out.

Very nice work Kahi, thanks for sharing. I did a similar job on my dad's '40s vintage Daisy Red Ryder. The work certainly cost more than the gun is worth, but I don't need to tell you that it's not a business decision.
He's still too young for it, but someday soon I'll be able to take my little guy out with it and teach him the fundamentals of shooting at an early age. And if he doesn't shoot his eye out , hopefully someday, if he takes good care of it, my son will be able to teach his kids with their great grandpa's Red Ryder.Of course that assumes that they haven't been banned by then. ![]() Best of luck with the Remington and the family. |

Thanks Guys
Very nice of you guys to take the time to wish me will. I appreciate that, and sf.com for providing that.
It was a fun and pleasurable project and sure beats tolerating the crap that is constantly on TV. Kahi |
