    VA Released a Rat Yesterday

No, Not a Blue One but my youngest son, Marlon- as a VMI Rat- Class of 2010.
Wife was a basket case (still is). Early this coming week my oldest (senior at UMW) will go back to school and the empty nesting begins- (y'all pray for me,lol). Mar wants to be commisioned a Navy Seal- the boy is tough as nails already but seal commisions are tough to come by- 15 total in the country and 1 at VMI so only time will tell. Here are a few pix of the trip to Lexington Va and the first day- Talk about some history??? Saw everything from cannonballs still in the walls of the institute to Stonewall Jackson's uniform and General Pattons personal belongings- No cell phones, internet, cars , tv's etc etc etc until at least January- big changes are coming for both him and the rest of my clan. Heres the pix from this weekend- Craig-

Craig, I know you must be VERY proud of them both. The hair stood up on my arms when I saw the school and the kids in your pictures. Well done.

NOT SURE IF I SHOULD CONGRAT'S TO YOU A OR CONDOLENCES. THE EMPTY NEST THING, MABY THE WIFE CAN GO FISHING WITH YOU. I WISH YOUR SONS THE BEST. I SPENT SOME TIME AT CORANADO ISLAND WITH THE NAVY SEALS. TOUGH TRAINING.

THEY GROW UP SO STINKING FAST. DO YOU REMEMBER THEM JUST LEARNING HOW TO RIDE A BIKE. OR CATCHING THEIR FIRST FISH...MAKES YOU SMILE. SO IF YOU GET DOWN, JUST REMEMBER THOSE DAYS. TOM

Good pics. Seeing the pictures and the video stream brought back many memories. As a class of '94 Alumni of the Institute. The culture shock that occurs that first 3 weeks is off the chain. I'm sure your son will be fine. You can tell by looking at him that he will make it. He'll have many wonderful experiences at the "I".

thanx 'box- well he made it through hell week, all is good- got him his dyke, and he can now e-mail us with an occasional phone call also. classes start today- we are both awful proud- he told me one of his "cadre" made a comment "who would get a tattoo of a marlin on his back shoulder"- and Mar just walked off (he learned his lesson about smiling on wednesday via push-ups). he told me he was probably some cadet from kansas with a corn stalk tat on his back. LOL-
