Mine bitches about cooking. Then I reminded her there are 21 meals in a week and she cooks 4 of them.

Something that I have found that does counter the behavior is this......and I tell everyone here this in confidence and its only to be used when you absolutely have to.

Shake your head and say, "Your going to run me off," in a matter of fact, but dissapointed sort of way that it has come to this.

This way, it not about either of you, but about the way she is acting. Takes the personal stuff out of it, but lets her know you have actually thought about it.

The only catch is if she says, "THEN GO"

A frequent conversation between me and my EX wife went something like this Me; "Honey, do you care if I go fishing tomorrow?" Her; "If thats what YOU want to do" I always took that as a GO AHEAD, guess that was the wrong answer!

You can always try this one...

Sweetie, I need to go fishing this weekend. If I don't then I am going to be expected to attend a "team building" party with the guys at the office and they all want to go to the strip clubs...To be honest, I really don't think that would be right for a married man to do. Sounds like it could work! If she says no to fishing, then you still get to go to the strip clubs! Let her pick her own lesser of two "evils".

If she asks you to lie about your schedule just say, "You know I can't do that. Besides, I'm a terrible liar. I would just get caught and I'm really not comfortable telling lies anyway. How would you like it if I did that to you?"

Remember, it's only a lie if you don't go to the titty bar with a colleague. To be sure you can rustle up someone from work to hit Thee Doll House with you if necessary.
