    REGULATOR, CONTENDER OR YELLOWFIN??

Which boat would you put your money in and on if you have 250K? List your opinions on ride, stability, fishability, rough water capability and workmanship

I have had a good amount of time with a regulater 26. The fit and finish was great,it rode very well although it did tend to porpose in a big following sea.

If I were going to spend 250K on a boat, it certainly would NOT be on a center console. That having been said, I believe the Regulator is the best boat of the three it terms of ride, fit and finish, etc.

For 250K buy something with a/c, heat, freezers, fridge, TV, a couch and bunks. ie: used sportfisherman

If you are determined to spend that kind of $$$ on a center console look into the Venture 34. By far, hands down the best riding CC I've ever been on.

$250 k will buy quite a fishing boat. I do love my 26. For that kind of money you could look at the 32 regulator, but like other say, that kind of money should put you in a nice used sportfisher with better range and comfort.

    Good luck.

Hummm...seems like a question that gets BEAT TO DEATH on the other sites. I soure hope this place does not turn into that childish "my boat is better than your boat" site.

They are all good...BUY one and enjoy it.

I have the 31' Contender FA and it is an awesome boat with all kinds of fishing room, large fish boxes in the rear of the boat, and an awesome ride. I am very happy with it.

I looked at the Regulator and they are very nice well built boats, but you have to drag your catch forward to store and that was my biggest turnoff and decided to pass.

The Yellowfin has a nice layout, plenty of fishing room, built rock solid and with the tunnel hull, will get up and flat out scoot across the waves. If I had a bigger budget it would be my choice for a CC.

There are a lot of choices at 250K, do your homework, look at as many as you can before making that decision. I looked for over a year at everything I could find before happening into my ride. I have no regrets..

    HAPPY HUNTING!!!

The large Yellowfin is a pure, fast, fishing machine for big water. The Contender is a proven performer with the new 33 is a sweet ride. The Regulator 26 has a great reputation.

Other high end boats to look at are the Venture 34, Hydrasports 33 Vector, and the Intrepid. Also, there is a new full composite boat out called the Revenge 35LT - very cool, very expensive.

    1- Yellowfin 34 or 36
    2- Venture 34
    3- Revenge 35LT
    4- Hydrasports 33 Vector
    5- Contender 33-T, 36-C or 36-O
    6- Intrepid 350 or 370
    7- Regulator 26

    Just my opinion.

You can't go wrong with any one of them. I bought a Contender, it had everything I was looking for. I also agree with the other guys- If I had $250k My ass would be sitting on top of a big set of diesels.

My vote is CONTENDER. I have been running my charters form a 31 Open with twin Yamaha 250 four strokes for the last 2 years. Its layed out very well with plenty of room to fish. Depending on the trip I take up to 6 people and your never getting in each others way. There is room on the boat below deck to store and lock 14 rods. Fish boxes, there are three that are massive. I have two live wells at the transum. Fresh and salt water wash down. There is room in side the console for a head which I put in myself. The ride is great in seas as well as on the flat days. There are lots of options you can take advantage of depending on your situation. I did my home work for a year before I made up my mind. Regulator was one of the boats I was considering but did not think the ride was as good as the Contender and did not like the layout as much. Regulator was a nice boat just did not seem to work for me.
