This is ridiculous, its not like its a horse its a chicken and I don't think its a rooster so its probably not a noise issue. Raising animals and being a part of an organization such as the 4-H helps build character and keeps kids out of trouble. and shes been doing it for 2 years.

New Jersey Girl, 10, Told to Get Rid of Her 4-H Chickens

LOWER TOWNSHIP, N.J. -- A 10-year-old girl is the latest to run afoul of a southern New Jersey town's livestock ordinance.

Brianna Lyman has until Sunday to get rid of the two chickens she was raising for a 4-H project because her family's yard falls short of the acre that Lower Township requires for farm animals.

A neighbor complained after the Rhode Island Red and a Black Silkie got loose and rooted through the neighbor's yard.

The fifth-grader, who spent two years raising the chickens in hopes of winning a 4-H prize, told The Press of Atlantic City she was shocked.

A family that has a child in 4-H has offered to take the chickens.

An 80-year-old last week was forced to give up six chickens that violated the ordinance.

I am sorry to say but my town has the same stupid type law. I never saw a problem with someone having chickens but the problem seemed to get worse when so many hispanics moved into the area and neighbors would see them snap a chickens neck in the back yard while another family member had a goat strung up in a tree slitting his neck.

Yep, he's consitutional in beliefs.

Trouble is he can't get a fair hearing. Only you and I listend, Bill.

The GOP (same as Wall Street) is always plowing tons of money into his primary opponents but they never upend him. The folks in his district are largely rural and very independent minded folks near the coast south of the Houston Metro area. They absolutely love the guy.

The number of avian diseases that are readily transmissable to humans, particularly influenzas and prions, is absolutely astounding. Regulating the raising of poultry is justifiably sound policy in light of these public health threats.

Man just down the street who does own a farm too decided to raise chickens in his backyard. I guess it was too far for him to drive each day to tend to them.

Anyway, locals went crazy when the kids started getting sick from handling them. Called the cops.

Cops came to issue citations only to find that an adopted two year old husky the man'd picked up on the side of the road had made quick work of them. Cited anyway.

End of story.
