    quitting the chew

I remember admin was trying to quit, well it's been a week and 1/2 and I am mean, getting head aches, don't sleep, over sleep, and anything else you can think of. I've tried for about a year now and the most I've gone is 1 mo. but this time it feels like I can kick the nasty habit. Thanks for letting me vent. I'm not doing sunflower seeds or anything else other than coffee this time, just going to let it take its course. You don't want to be around me right now

good luck with the chew. i used copenhegen every day for about 25 years. as dirty of a habit as it was copenhagen was my best friend sad to say. it was the first thing i reached for in the moring and the last thing i did befor i went to sleep. i would still be chewing snuff if Tracy (the mermaid) (my boating partner, best friend, and lover) did't put her foot down and help me quit. i had gone into the hospital for some knee surgery and was anable to drive. when i woke from the operation i asked her for my snuff. she said she could't find it. i asked her to stop at the store on her next trip in to visit me and she refused. i could of killed her but right now i have to thank her. i have to say there is not a day that goes by that i still dont have the urege to stop at a wawa and get a can. Good luck. i know what you are going through.

It will get better over time. I never dipped but I smoked 4 packs a day. The desire does go away over time. I have a friend with throat cancer and 1 who lost half his face before he died due to mouth cancer from dipping. Quitting is definitely better. Commit lozenges may help or the prescription Chantrix seems to work well. Good luck.

I'm right there with you...its been 3 days and things are going fairly well.....drink alot of water and you;ll focus so much on how filled with water yout stomach is that it'll be unbearable to even consider tossing in a front loader. Seems to be working for me. Good Luck

I hope that you all can quit... There's enough out there to kill you don't need it to be self inflicted!

If you need any motivation just ask me for the icky lip cancer photo I have in store for just such occasions!

I feel ya man , chew seemed to be way harder to drop then smokes. I smoked for about 20 years and quiet then took up chew then took back up smoking and chewed at the same time for a few years.

Got of the smokes for over 2 years now and have not had a chew since the summer.

Hard ? Yes the first month but now the hard part is tellling myself i can not just have one chew or one smoke.

Fact is i have one im done back on.

Big side effect is the weight gain

Very happy to have quiet just saw yesterday 5.28 a pack lol

    Good luck man !

Never chewed but was a smoker for over 20 years. Quit 3 years ago due to needing throat surgery (not related to smoking). I was doing fine until June 9, 2006......the day I got married.....

A lot of pressure that day, got drunk.....had a couple of smokes and have been hooked again.

I have talked to a few people that have quit recently and they all used the same thing. Chantix.

I setup an appointment with the Dr. to get a script. Apparently it blocks the nicotine cravings.

    www.chantix.com

Once I get started I will post wether it worked or not.
