    Quick question..

Quick question.... I am in St. Thomas and about 75 yards off shore from where I am staying is a reef that comes up to about knee deep. In the evening time I have been seeing several fish working the reef. The distance between the dorsal fin and the tail fin is at least 36" and probably longer, the fins stick up out of the water quite a ways also. I have fished the reef in the morning and night and only caught yellow tail snapper. Anyone with ideas? I would try to get pics but my camera only has 3X zoom... I would like to know what I'm missing out on! Thanks

tarpon. Cast net some bait and pitch it out there. You should get threadfin herring on the beach.

Well....I wish they were tarpon... I donned the snorkling gear tonight and waited very impatiently... I almost finished my second cocktail when I saw the first sign of them. Not knowing exactly what it was and for some reasons unknown I brought my spear gun, I guess being from Alaska a gun of any sorts just makes me feel better. Anyway I dove down and came up the edge of the reef to where I thought "they" were...and there "they" were. 4 stingrays... I guess it was there tail and the sides of the wings was what I was seeing. Well anyway, they say there are tarpon here but I have not found them yet. Thanks for your help.
