Team Sportfishermen.com
cost per round is higher

Gettinwet heres a comparison for an average gr weight on each round maybe it will help. 6.8 just seems like another "magic" must have round to me. A little bigger than the 5.56 and slower but it carries more energy down the range. A lot slower and alot less energy than the .308. Considerably more expensive to shoot than both of the others

Better question may be, what are you planning on using it for, target, competition, or hunting?
I haven't had a huge amount of experience with the round but from what I have shot, I'm not the biggest fan. I do have a fairly specific type of shooting that I do so I'm a bit biased.

Gee, Tim what would that very specific type of shooting be?
Ive shot it a few times, you get a little louder whack on the steel plates than the .223. I prefer the .223 for general target and varmint hunting. If I was looking at a new ar15 platform rifle I myself would go for the .308 (which Im guessing would be Tims choice as well or his nifty cool 300 WM he posted pics of with the sweet little suppressor on it). So once again what are you looking for long distance shooter (.308), 3 gun competition(.223), varmint gun(.223), or just to have an AR platform rifle?

i am just going to stick with the 308 in a ar15....going with the 20'' barrel and a 2 stage matck trigger...have find some nice optics and a bypod but should be up and running in a few weeks....i was looking for a 2-4 hundred yard tack driver..and with the 308 there are soooo many different type of ammo for all different needs...
