Nobody ruined anything. I simply made a comment and was immediately and violently attacked. why I don't know but apparently anything beyond a response of "yeah man" and "great post" seems to evoke hoots and hollars here. I thought a discussion board was to obtain differing viewpoints on subjects and discuss them rationally. Evidently this group doesn't look at it that way.

I reiterate my post above on all aspects. Don't you have some propaganda fliers to hand out on the corner of Broadway and 42St anyway?

Cute, very cute. But then I suppose all is well with fish stocks and global warming is a myth too. I stand by my position that fishermen need to look inward for the problems with fish stocks first and then move on to other causes of the demise.

The title of this topic was "sport fishing" not angler participation and slabbing em up on the docks is not sport fishing in my view or at least doesn't promote a very good image for the sport. But then that doesn't meet the expected response of "great post man".

Global Warming?--- Gesus H. Mother of all bullshit. You are either my ex wife, her divorce attorney, or Al Gore. The good Dr. Cliff started a nice thread on anglers becoming more involved in the sport and you have turned this around into the Bluefin Masicure and NOW global warming.

Turn off your puter, do you have any idea how much coal is being burned so you can so selfishly send your messeage over the cybernet.
    Shame, shame shame---

DUde Jrob dude come on dude check this shit out.

When i first started to read this thread i did not read the first post and i started to read what you said and you seem to have some great views and that is awesome. The man made a post to ask people about angler participation.

I think what everyone is saying is start a new post ! Angler participation has merit and people want to discuss it but not lookin to go off on many other subjects like you are takin it.

SO PLEASE START YOUR OWN THREAD ABOUT YOUR TOPICS AND IF PEOPLE CARE TO DISCUSS THEY WILL POST !!! i

Im sure i will as i agree and disagree with some stuff you had.

    So please allow this thread to go back on track for what it was made for and you go start a new thread. I would like to clean this up as i feel many boats need to allow anglers to get more involed.;

Put the sport back in sportfishing.
I believe we should encourage more angler participation in charter fishing. There is a thrill to hooking and playing your own fish without aid from your buddies or the mate. Sometimes I see a man cranking, another man holding the rod, and another leveling the line after the mate has hooked the fish. It doesn't look good. There is a certain elegance in hooking the fish, playing it to the boat without assistance. I am going to try to emphasize this approach. It may not go over well as many are only interested in a full fish box.

    What do others think?

Er what was the name of the topic? And note the last sentence referring the full fish box. my points have been that sport fishing should be sport, that attitudes of skippers make a difference in how newcomers partake of the sport and that people note what people practice. If I have offended you or others by taking up these points then I am sorry but if putting the sport back in sport fishing means only letting anglers participate a little more then we have not done what we said was the subject of this topic.

    This is a good topic,
What I like to do is get a handle on how well my customers can fish and also what they need to be taught. I like to show the people what to do and then let them try from start to finish. But first I say this, lets get some meat on the boat(most people are meat fisherman) then we will show you what you need to know. If you are a experianced angler then let the capt know that, the people that come on my boat are a mix of the two from never getting a striped one over 5lbs to never even seeing a tuna up close. The tuna thing is a little tricky not during the fight but when the fish is ready to gaff, they want to look at it before the job is done. thats a no no. but we explaine that to them. I couldnt and wouldnt want to "take away" from the customers fun by yelling and screaming and all that bull crap, if they miss a fish then so be it there are more. its about having fun and forging a new friendship with people. thats my outtake on it.

I re-read this post and it reaffirms my position with jbrob sending it south.

Does not make a hill of beans if he likes to fish or eat fish or even paint pictures of fish on his bedroom ceiling. When a captain offers up a very great point such as this and some one complains, steals, shuffles the deck, to sidetrack it, I want to pull the plug on his word program, This was one great post. and I hope it is brought up again.

I like hands on fishing and scrubbing the pit. No gold chains hanging on my redneck

All of the captains I have fished with recently approach the same hands on fishing. I even wash my own truck

Jbrob not picking and issue, but think before you press reply.....go to the top and press new thread .......then start your post about your opinion to keep fish or let them free. I like to kill fish and eat them with reeling in the fish by my self. lots of dead fish seem to make me happy and I even want to pound my chest and brag to my charter.

Now if I could only hook one I would be happy....maybe I need to go out with fishpicker and satisfy my... craving

I really think when a charter is involved their interest is raised to a level of satisfaction. You see some stand back, not that they want to , but they are learning, Each time a charter fishes with the same or other captain, he feels more comfortable and becomes more involved. This is when it becomes fun. I know it is for me and I am glad other captains I have not fished with yet, feel the same way. That is who will get my nod, when a charter is booked. This was a nice thread. I repeat !!!. I hope the good captain brings it to the top again on a new thread. sorry for the rant. It really bothered me to see this thread die !

WELL HERE IS MY TWO CENTS ! WHEN I GET TO GO ON MY FIRST TUNA TRIP I WANT THE CAPT. TO SHOW ME EVERTHING AND TELL ME WHY . IF I DO IT WRONG I WANT HIM TO TELL ME AND SHOW ME . IT MIGHT TAKE TWICE . MY FEELINGS ARE I'M THERE TO CATCH AND EAT . TAKE WHAT U NEED OR YOUR LIMIT AND GO FOR SOMETHING ELSE . I DON'T LIKE CATCH & RELEASE BUT I ALSO WILL NOT STOP U FROM DOING IT . THAT IS WHY I ALWAYS TRY TO GET THE CHART CAPTS. TOO GO CIRCLE OR BARBLESS WHEN BYCATCH (UNDER SIZE FISH) ARE AROUND WHICH IS ALL THE TIME . MY TRUE OPINION I DON'T BELEIVE THERE SHOULD BE SIZE LIMITS JUST BAG LIMITS . WHAT U CATCH IS WHAT U GET DON'T THROW IT BACK TO CATCH SOMETHING BIGBER ! SORRY GUYS DON'T WANT TO STEP ON TOES !
