    Proud Pop

Hey gang, My oldest daughter Kaitlyn is seven, but sometimes I think she has a heart fo gold. She's been asking for horse back riding lessons for the last couple months. Not being made of money, I don't want to spend that kind of money if this is just a kids fad. So I told her she would have to show me that she really wants to do this.
A friend of mine runs the Cape May County Equestrian Facility and they do alot for handicapped kids with therapy horses. They don't charge any of the families of the kids in need. They try to pay the bills through boarding and fund raising. Now as anyone whose been around farms and horses no there is a lot of work that goes into this kind of thing. They can always use a hand.
So a couple sundays ago I asked kate if she would like to volunteer our time on sundays to go over to the farm. I took some pics of Kate in action yesterday

In Her Glory one of the girls asked Kaitlyn to help her brush her horse

So I asked her about the work shes doing and she tells me how important it is to help out with these horses. Cause the horses have an important job helping kids Dad. So I want to do whatever I can to help. So I'm very proud of my seven year old and I told her if she keeps it up and we go over every week we can and she joins the 4H club the facility runs when she turns 8(oct) We will start horse back riding lessons (there goes a boat) next winter/spring. She's a great kid Thanks

Outstanding.....you are laying a solid foundation and teaching your daughter how to be responsible, the fact that she feels the way she does about helping because the horses help others just shows how great a job her parents are doing at riasing her.....great pics and a great thread

You have every right to be proud, I grew up working hard with my father and to this day I am so thankful.

What a good hearted, pretty, sweet little thing.

Yes, Daddy, you should be very proud indeed...and give her back the love she gives you, and of course, those horsies. I'm sure you do, too...I mean, how could you help not to?

Made my day. Thank you very much.

It is a VERY good way for a kid to start. Horsemanship is a lot more than riding. We have kids at our barn that like to do the work and other kids that want to jump on a tacked up and groomed horse and ride. The kids who do their own grooming are better, more well rounded kids.

Horses are a lot of work. We have 30 at the moment. The kids that learn the less glamorus side of riding will stick with it will ride forever and appreciate every opportunity. The facility appreciates the help as well.

Thanks Guys, She's a hell of a good little girl. It just seems like yesterday she was in a stroller trying to free some eels in a bucket in my first bait shop. Thanks Tim
