Newspapers all over the world are reporting about the private yacht that was captured by Somali pirates and then rescued by French Special Forces last week.
Florent Lemacon, the skipper of the yacht, was killed along with two Somali pirates when French forces mounted a raid on the hijacked yacht in the Indian Ocean last Friday, according to a report in The Independent. The story serves as a reminder that it's not just commercial ships at risk from the increasingly brazen Somali pirates.
Other stories on the hijacking and rescue of the private yacht can be found at YachtPals.com and The Daily Mail.

I think Admin is going to let me have this space
This is a HUGE issue for larger sportfishers and cruisers that travel to "remote" (to middle america and insurance companies
)....part of the world. Many policies will exclude certain acts of terror unless its added on the policy......Some companies will include coverage for hijack/kidnap ransome....I strongly suggest if you are traveling great distances or into foreign countries with your vessel you obtain a policy that fits your specific needs, that gives you the "extras" in the event something were to happen..........cause you really never know what type of situations can arise while out at sea...
We all like to think it can never happen to us......but the fact of the matter is it can ecspecially in this day and age.
