    Prescription Sunglasses

Looking for a decent place near OC MD to get a pair of prescription sunglasses. I want something brand name like Maui Jim or Costas. Any suggestions??

    Thumbs up

PM Crazy Eyes. He is an eye doctor and can get you hooked up with a nice new pair of Kaenon glasses.

Sounds like it would be good to give Anthony's dad a call, always better to get something like that locally if you have a opportunity and someone you can trust. Wave580 lenses from Costa Del Mar are not available in prescription at this time. Maui Jim and Kaenon offer the best prescription technology at this time, IMHO. A good optical shop can get you a lens similar to those two brands into most other brands of frames if you so choose.

I have Maui Jims, Kaenons (2 pair), Ocean Waves (2 Pair), Hobies, etc. None of them are prescription. However, never again will I get Kaenons as all plastic lenses scratch, despite their claims. Maui Jims are ok, but I have the glass lenses. Same with the Ocean Waves.

The best prescription sunglasses I've ever worn were my friends pair of Smith Action Optix.

    http://www.smithoptics.com/technolog...ategory=2&id=3

They were polarized, photochromatic (darkness changed with the light level), bi-focalas and they were glass. I tried them while fly fishing throwing size 20 dry flies to rising brown trout in alternating sunny and showery overcast conditions against my Kaenons and the difference in clarity was astounding. IMO plastic lenses have no place on the saltwater as they will get scratched due to the dried salt, which is the problem with my Kaenons. The Maui Jims are glass, but they never really clean up well after exposure to sunscreen. The Ocean Waves are great and my go to on the salt, but if I was going the prescription lens route, it would be the Smiths.

I'M more then happy with Oceanwave prescription on green inshore type of lens, and regular pair with the blue offshore type,
I tried the Costas 580 in offshore blue I couldn't tell the difference
    between Oceanwave and Costas.

I made the switch to Kaenon a little over a year ago. I have few pairs(7) and haven't had any problems. I wear the Hard Cores in Copper for fishing and I like the UPD's for just wearing around.

Thanks to Crazy Eyes for getting me hooked up with the guys at Kaenon. They have taken good care of me.
