    Portable Internet - Help

I need to go more portable with my internet stuff, so I can try to keep up with the flood of messages and access them, no matter where I am. I guess I need one of those palm or iphone things.

I will need to be able to get my email and access the web.

    1. What service?

    2. What hardware?

Help me out so I don't get locked into the wrong thing for 2 years.

In my experience, Verizon provides better coverage throughout NC than AT&T - for that reason most of folks I work with have Blackberrys.

The iPhone seems to have more applications at this point, but the service is more consistent with Verizon...

I vote for the Iphone, haven't had any problems. 3G network is fast when in Wifi. I have the 16G and have 5,000 pics and 6 video's along with 15 apps and 300 songs and albums and still not a 1/4 full. I have weather, stocks, sports scores, and more cowbell at my fingertips. What more can you ask for?

16G.......is that an upgrade? i just bought the new one....8GB...i didnt know 16 was an option....guess it just shows you how tech savy i am....But one word of advice - go for the unlimited everything plan....i have no worries about going over any of my limits - i know it will be the same price every month.

As mentioned above, there are LOTS of apps for the iphone.

I have two that I use often,

    http://www.inavx.net/

    and

    http://navimatics.com/default.aspx

Both are great for a backup to a backup...OR... when flying right seat with someone who doesn't have the greatest in electronics on board.

    Highly recommend the iPhone.

I got on the website and started looking. How much is an unlimited deal? I couldn't figure it out.

Also what is tethering? Sounds like S&M, but I'm sure it something different, but with 5000 pics, I'm sure you could cover all the bases.

Also what are apps. Is that individual software packets you buy, just like ms office or something?

I actually have the older one, the 16G was an option. Here are a few pics that I took with the camera. Jim, if your prone to lose or break things it's not for you unless you like throwing away a couple hundred (no Insurance plan) maybe Raquel could hook you up?
