He's dead. How is he going to hurt you now ? You have a public profile on here. How would your family like hearing someone call you an asshole after you die. I would either say nothing about you or would say something like : He was a good guy and a great fishermen. He'll be missed" even though none I don't necessarily believe it is true

Thank you for that thoughtful input...

A mans passing sucks wheteher you wear a D or a R on your voter registration card... Me, I sit on the right side of the fence. Hubris is 100% correct in his observations. I found the chap chapter positively reprehensible... Still feel that way. But as eppe said. A mans passing isn't the time to take "pot shots."

I've had the opportunity to sit with the man and knock a few back back in the day. I gotta say in person he was a delightful person to share a drink and conversation with. His nephew, Joe, and I are stillwhat you could call friends. He's my neighbor at my Key Largo house. For that matter my family and the Bush family are close... Outside of politics I find great people in both families...

Yeah I know the sorted past and find it repulsive but on a one on one level, I'll kind of miss him. I feel for Joe who is very unlike the rest of the Kennedy clan. Joe is a fisherman like the rest of us. He has a contender and loves banging the reefs or sailfishing south and loves popping bass in the north.
I don't think he has signed in here but I do know he has driven by and read at least some stuff on SFC. I doubt he'll find this thread but just a little decorrum can't hurt.

Perhaps a man's 46 years devoted service to our counrty, convictions in promoting causes he truely believed in, and the steward of many international diplomatic deals cuts to protect our freedoms don't count in the truth.

I doubt there is a person who reads this board that supported Kennedy's political views, but IMO respect for his service to our Country in the form of at least abstaining from personal attacks on the eve of his death, is not too much to ask from any red blooded American.

Let the truth be told. It does matter if this thread was written 2 years ago or 2 minutes ago.

Just happens to be todays hot topic.

Ted was what he was, I don't think the family would be shocked to here the truth.

    Thanks Hurbis.

Well I'm from Mass, so I'll have to stick up for him a little bit, although as was said, I don't support many of his views. My idea of nationwide health care is you walk in to any hospital, and they fix what's wrong for "free," no paperwork, no bullshit, but anyway...Being from Mass, we all know the family a little better than most others around the country, Camelot they say, a Camelot wrought with tradgedies. A good family, large, powerful, ambitious, likeable, and like the rest of us, they all made plenty of mistakes, but they picked themselves up and went for their dreams, through more family tragedies and losses than any family should bare. We've all heard about the bad things Teddy has done, but I feel he tried to make ammends by being much more caring than any other politician I've heard of, most of which we'll likely never know. As was mentioned, he attends all the funerals for servicemen lost in his state, those folks were told, if you need anything call me, and Teddy answers the phone. One servicemen's family couldn't find his paperwork so the Navy refused to send the honor guard to his funeral. The mother took Ted up on his offer, and called him, the honor guard got there. Ted also befriended every family, 177 families, who lost a member of their family in 911, those folks are Ted's friends for life, he writes every year to see how they're doing. A Mass resident moved to CA on a job offer, when he got his family there, and the company found out he had mild epilepsy, and reneged on their offer, after finding out, Ted made a phone call and the fellow went to work. I could go on and on with local knowledge, but suffice it to say Ted cared for the little guy, and families with loss, he sure went through enough of it in his own family. I agree, policies that started out to benefit the working man, usually ended up working against him, but that isn't necessarity one man's fault. He's been the head of the family and guardian of nearly 30 nephews, nieces, cousins, etc, and other family members, attending every event for every one of his own and murdered brothers kids. Although it may not seem like it, as one close family friend from Hyannisport said, "when Teddy meets his Maker, he won't have anything to worry about." He's made some mistakes of nationwide notoriety, but I know he's more than made up for it...you wouldn't have wanted to walk in that man's shoes for a few feet, never mind a mile.....

    hmmm....the Kennedys......some fine Irish Catholics....drunks SURE....use their family name to their advantage...YES....

and to carry on the Family Name....Ted wanted to push legislation for the appointing of his replacement....wonder which Kennedy name he had in mind......

maybe it was Joe who is pushing Heating Oil from Citgo and Chavez.....

the Kennedy family empire bred much greed both finacially and politically....

to sum it up for me.....another politician who represented the people with his own agendas....

also....guess Bama is smiling since he may now not have to return the favor....since he politically was indebted to Kennedy for endorsing him over Hillary......

life goes on and Arlington National Cemetary has a new permanent visitor who i believe does not deserve to be there....Chappaquidick would be more suitable for Ted's final resting place.........
