The new Republican-dominate House has vowed to defund the health reform law (Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, PPACA). In particular, they've vowed to defund the part of the Act which allows Federal Grants to be given to the states to fund new departments within their insurance regulatory agencies that have the purpose of reviewing and approving or denying premium rate increases by health insurance companies.
Of course, defunding these grants will prevent the states, who by law regulate health insurance within their borders, from meaningfully regulating health insurance premium rates. If that happens, you can expect to see rates and insurance profits skyrocket well beyond the astronomical levels they are today, such levels that have caused numerous posters on this board to post in protest.
So, I have a simply dual level question and poll for you. That is, do you agree that Federal grant funding in the PPACA to the states for the purpose of health insurance rate reviews is essential to control your costs of health insurance and, if so, will you write your congressman/congresswoman about it demanding that they fully fund these grants?
