I hate it....wat are some ways you guys get rid of it?

matey the only way i can get rid of it, and i get it bad, is the doctor gives me these 7day steroids, by the end of the second day it seems to have it whooped.

The quickest way to get rid of it is to go to your local drug store and get a tube of Zandel or Ivy Rid gel. Follow the directions to the letter and it should knock it out completely in about 30 minutes (2 back to back treatments) or so. It knocks out the itching in about 30 seconds!!! If you have a systemic reaction from the oil of the plant getting into your blood stream (usually from excessive scrathing that breaks the skin), you will need to do multiple treatments along with the steroid deal. I hate poison ivy as much as anyone. I can get it from looking at it it would seem. The Zanfel product is all that I use now and I have had several occassions in the past few years where I have had to use it. It's expensive as hell but it goes a long long way and it's nothing short of incredible!!!!!!

thank you, i will have to give it a try....im soo allergic the wind could blowing the right way and i will get it so i get it 6-10 times a year easy....somehow i got it on my forearm and i havent even been in the woods

BLEACH!!!! I actually scratch it open then drown it in bleach. Burns like hell. I keep putting it on until it quits running. This dries it out, it scabs over and ain't purdy for a day or 5, but it stops the itching and spreading.

may not be the safest, most clinical way to get rid of it but has worked for me over the years.

Easiest thing is not to get it in the first place... Stop "wrestling" with yourself in the weeds...

I used to get it bad as a kid and think I built some kind of immunity. I grows thick behind the house in jersey where I turn over rocks looking for night crawlers. My mom still gets it but I don't...

But my uncle swear's up and down that in spring or early summer or something to that effect that if you eat it, it somehow makes you immune to it for a year! he swear's he eat's it every year I just stay away from it. Oh ya he said an old indian told him that.

I've heard of eating it to be immune but I have my doubts. There used to be a product call Rhus-tox that you swallowed to give immunity. It's been off the market for years.
Hydrocortisone 1% cream usually works the best over the counter.( Cortisone 10 and Cortaid are brand names)
