Now Ace what I meant was if the guys just standing there holding a knife and you have a gun drawn are you gonna shoot him? Now obviously if he comes at you, yes absolutely. I was refering to the guy who at the least little threat just pulls and shoots. I know you're not that kinda guy you're more responsible than that, you were a cop you can tell the difference between a percieved threat and a real threat. Some people would just use it as an excuse.

Ace I'm With You On This One,

If he's dumb enough to threaten (real threat) my life , I'm dumb enough to stop him. What's the difference if he pull's a knife on the street or break's into you home while you're there? He put himself in the bad position not me. I cannot see myself not helping anyone who really needed help (using Duck Miester's analogy), but don't pull a knife and think I'm gonna go along with the program. I do think that some folk's carry concealed for the absolute wrong reason's, they are exactly the one's who should not be carrying.
While I'm at it, I am sooooooooooo tired of calling these "professional ballplayer's" role model's. They are ball player's, that's it ,that's all, end of story. If parent's were parent's now-a-day's like they are supposed to be, we wouldn't be using LAME term's like this. It's an excuse!!!! When we were coming up (and again, I ain't that old), the only role model we had was our Old Man. I wasn't scared of the cop's,I was scared of my Old Man. If he was pissed, please call the cop's to protect me. My 3 kid's range from 30 to 18 year's old, there are many thing's they will not do at "home". Why, cause I'm the Old Man!!! Ya bunch a wimp's get a grip!!!! You had these kid's, they didn't have you. Be the Parent and take care of them. Don't rely on some over paid "jock" to do it for you.
One more thing for what it's worth, I don't like Glock's either, they're for sissies! Nothing keep's the peace (as far as handgun's) as good as a double action, Smith & Wesson .44 Mag. It'll do exactly what it look's like it'll do. Frank

Thats the point I was trying to make, I guess I just used to many words.

Please understand if I am seriously threatened (not just a "Im gonna kick your ass") I will draw my weapon. That doesnt mean Im gonna pull the trigger. In most circumstances I would bet that will stop the encounter. If not and the individual advances then I will stop him if necessary. Taking a life is a very serious issue in my eyes, if I have to I will but I will make sure I have to first. Besides there is just way to much paperwork involved.

    I agree,

Now I live on a pretty nice street. But Im not gonna take it anymore. Anyone speeding down my street is going to get it and I mean good. I dont care if I have to use the 38 snub nose or the 39 glocknose. Im locked and loaded and ready to go. In fact, canyon runner wants to use me in a poster just to scare guys off.
I dont care if your cleaning a fish, If I even think you have a knife........BAM! 39 glock, right between the eye balls.
I used to carry the piece but it got in the way once I hooked up. It went off once in bed and the girl wouldnt talk to me again because she just bought the sheets. I told her we dont really need a little toe but she still misses it. Personally, I dont think it affects her balance but she isnt sure. Or rather isnt shore. One or the other. Anyway, Im going to start carrying as soon as I get off probation for that little toe. I think they were way too harsh with me. I had her walk a straight line in the trial but her lawyer objected and they shot me down.
Imagine the humilitation I felt being shot down in court without an ability to get a shot off. Two shots, I could have won that case.

Nauti.......no I dont agree with shooting a man cause he pulls a knife. Every incident is different. Distance plays a major part in knife vs gun. But once again, one must underwstand that ones situation does not come to mind when looking down the business end of a knife or a gun. I have been on both sides as a law enforcement officer and as a citizen. Its not comfortable either way. One thing I can say is that in my Law Enforcement career not once did I ever encounter a subject who robbed or burglarized ones property to pay the bills. Not once! it just does not happen. Its an excuse. I did encounter a shoplifter once that stole some baby formula from a grocer. After interviewing her and discussing with the grocer,I turned her over to a community organization that stepped in and helped her get back on her feet. In 7 years that was the only incident I run across similiar to your example.

You heard anything from your possible new employer? I hope it works out for you guys.
