    PLASMA TV RECS

After years of hounding, bitching and complaining, I got the go ahead

    I'm looking at 58-60" 1080p plasma TVs.

I'm leaning towards the Panasonic 58" PZ700 or the Pioneer Kuro PDP6010FD. For the $$$, the Panasonic is my fav.

    Any recs?

How psyched are you! I got a Pioneer Elite 50" last year, and I'm still amazed at the detail every time I watch a HD program. Now it's been a year since I did my research, so things may have changed, but I think that both pioneer and panasonic are always the top rated pictures. Don't be fooled by the cheaper plasmas- the colors in general aren't as deep, and they can't do black as well as the higher end ones, which makes all the difference when you watch movies.

    That's a good question?
I've got the Panasonic and love it. Don't get talked into spending a fortune on cables. If you running HDMI the expensive cables are a waste of money. It's digital, 1's and zero's, with error correction. Walmart cables work great. The Best Buy guys will tell you otherwise and try to sell you 100$ cables. Do youself a favor and invest in a good sound system. The best you can afford. It makes all the diference. For the audio make sure you use fiber optic cables. Again there's no loss like there is with coax. Good luck!

I've heard the TV sound systems s*ck. I was going to use my old sound system, at least for now. It's not bad, Bose AM7 and AM5s and already mounted on the walls. I have a couple receivers I can use - Sony and Onkyo. The Sony has a nice sound and the Onkyo has digital I/O. I can use either.

I gotta run. Be back later. Thanks for the info.

I bought a 42" plasma a few months ago from Walmart for 1000 bucks.
It's not a top name brand, but my son is a computer and electronics guru, and told me that the components inside are exactly the same as the one's used in the top name brands, such as sony and others. I've been very happy with it so far. Mine is hooked up to a sony surround sound system.

Pio Elite has always been the cream of the crop. The one you mentioned is improved technology. I went with thr 50" Pio Pro Elite after researching for 3 months and looking at everything out there.
