Pics of Father & Son offshore!

I took some much needed time off from a very stressfull job, grabbed my son and headed south to OI in the Outter Banks. Here are a few Pics of what was a great day. My son had a blast. We fished aboard the "Justified" It was a great trip. But the best part was when we were driving home he said, Dad "I'm tired and I want to fall asleep but I really want to stay up and talk to you all night". Melted my heart! Please enjoy the photos!

That is pretty neat Tom. Raised the hair on the back of my neck.
Brings back a lot of fond memeories of my childhood and back when my son was still cute.

Great stuff and by the looks of it, you guys tore em up.

Well that is just a wonderful tale. I love to hear this kind of stuff. Now that he is hooked, try to teach him what I tried to teach mine. It goes something like this...
"Son. If you do good in school and try to do the right things in life, then good things will come back to you. When you are 15 you get a 15 ft boat...when you are 30 you get a 30 footer...when you are 40 you get a 40 footer...etc........

I fish with my son almost every time I go fishing. I enjoy it more then anything I do. I have had the pleasure of hunting with him also. I tolerate the hunt because I know he enjoys it. I really do not hunt much but do enjoy spending the time with my son. What I do not do much anymore is fish with Dad. Dad is almost 80 and not very mobile anymore. A few years back I took him to the Jackspot and caught some blues and a king mackeral on my own personal boat. This was the first time I ever took him on MY BOAT. I have taken him on his boat many times. I was proud. I had mom and dad on the spot catchin blues and and kings and even a small bluefin. He showed his appreciation by puking on me. At that point I realized our offshore days were over but I realized that he still loved to fish. So I invited him to MY new house on the shore and wanted to take him croaker and rockfishing. I had another little boat that we could go on. So I eased the 16 foot boat to the ladder and tried to help him on. He got between the ladder and the boat and started to drift off while holding on. He promptly fell in. I thought it was over and time to take him home but he laughed it off and we got him back in the boat and out on the nanticoke. As I was cruising the river I reflected the times we fished together and the times we had. I never much thought about it but he really did teach me to fish. We eased up to a little patch of sod off of Clay island and started to catch catfish, perch, croakers and even 1 small rock. Dad is still alive and kickin and asks about all my trips but I think his fishin days are done. Somehow I got lucky and snapped this picture on this great day. I am sure glad I did. becuase this is how I will always remember him.

That's some darn good stuff here fellas. Kind of cuts through all of the crap that we deal with daily and puts things in perspective.

Me, on the other hand just got back from the taking my kid on his nightly driving lesson over behind the Food Lion. He is now 15 and in Driver's Ed. Now I am in the process of tearing the house apart looking for a zanax.

That look of determination is priceless. I can't wait until my son is old enough to share in this sport (he just turned 2)
