    Picked up a Hitchiker

I guess the little guy needed a little rest, so he rode with us for quite while! He would switch form rigger to rigger. Years I go, I had one land on the steering wheel and when I held out my finger he jumped on. Pretty neat little birds. I don't know what kind they are. Does anyone know?

we had that exact same species of bird fly into out 27' Sea Ray Amberjack at the 28 mile wreck years ago. He flew into the little cubard on the stern and sat there with us while we trolled. I would like to know as well!

I have had that same visitor twice this year. The couple we had stop by were a bright yellow with very little brown. It is a pretty cool looking bird.

Every year there is a huge migration across the Gulf of Mexico made by these guys. If they get separated from the flight by weather or whatever, they will land on the outriggers absolutely exhausted, sometimes we can catch them and we take them back to South Padre and let them go. I've seen them fall into the water but ever seen anything eat it so I think trying to rig one would be a waste of a good hook.
