Personal attacks, negative comments, etc.

I was going to post this into an active thread but since I've seen this issue in other threads and have held my thoughts on this for a long time, I'm dropping it here. Just need to vent

I was about to comment on an off-shore thread yesterday and then one person decided to start bashing another and I am not game for the negative stuff anymore. There's enough stress in life without logging into it.

But here I am again, reading that thread, which was a great fishing topic. Now it is just irritating. Personal attacks, negative commets, and talking down to other members should not be accepted by any of us. Most everyone here are great members so this in no way is directed at the membership at large, it just takes one negative post to drag things down.

I was a relatively early member here and I am an avid promoter of this site. It was nice to see membership expand but sadly that seems to bring an element that causes me to log off more, and more, and has kept me at a distance over the past year.

Maybe it's an evolution to something the masses will thrive on, as the Jerry Spring show has thrived, but I hope this community remembers the prinicples that made it great. This is a good place to be, with a lot of excellent people, and I'd like to keep it that way.

I couldn't agree with you more!! Well Said, I think that for a lot of us that jumped ship and came over here, that is one of the main reasons we left the site we did. So no one should bring their garbage with them when they go to their friends house.

Agreed.

Thats why I came here and don't really check the other sites anymore.

I sure hope it doesn't happen here like on the other sites where some of the mods seem to be the biggest problem.

I applaud your post Captain. It is much more beneficial to the group when the personal attacks and negative comments are refrained from being tossed out. I learned a long time ago..."It is much harder to walk away from a fight"(even when an asswhipping is imminent) Something I struggle with to this day. The keyboard and screen compound the difficulty even more. I can't count the number of reply's that I have deleted rather than hit submit on.
Obviously, the more the site grows, the more "bad apples" are gonna try to spoil the bunch. It is a shame that people refrain from posting things simply because they fear being bashed, ridiculed, etc. I wish the members that have negative, antagonistic, rude remarks would just keep them to themselves.

On another note don't clubs do the same thing? I have been in the fishing industry for over 15 yrs yet people us stupid things to prevent others from being in a club. This isn't a personal attack just a viewpoint from my end. Its easier to bash someone when others doesn't understand something.

I am with you guys. I have been coming here to learn for a long time and hopefully have been able to help a few others along the way but man the past couple of months the horse hooey has really been flying.
This is still the best site on the net; it is a shame that it has been "infiltrated" with all the bashing and personal attacks.
I hope some of these other sites get their issues worked out so the problem makers would stay there and not be over here stinkin up the place.

Thanks Rich. Its not easy to put certain words in a sentence with my name, until they get to know me then its funny. The haters will always be around thats what puts content on these boards so I just go with the flow.
