I LOVE THIS COMEBACK
One of my sons serves in the military.
]He is stationed stateside, here in California . He called me yesterday to let me know how warm and welcoming people were to him and his troops everywhere they go. Telling me how people shake their hands and thank them for being willing to serve and fight, not only our own freedoms but so that others may have them too.
Then he told me about an incident in the grocery store he stopped at yesterday, on his way home from the base. He said that several people were in the line ahead of him, including a woman dressed in a burkha. He said when she got to the cashier, she made a loud remark about the U.S. Flag, lapel pin, the cashier wore on her smock. The cashier reached up and touched the pin and said, 'Yes, I always wear it proudly, because I'm an American.'
The woman in the burkha then asked the cashier when she was going to stop bombing her countrymen, explaining that she was Iraqi.Then, a Gentleman standing behind my son stepped forward, putting his arm around my son's shoulders and nodding towards my son, said in a calm and gentle voice to the Iraqi wo man: Lady, hundreds of thousands of men and women like this young man have fought and died so that YOU could stand here, in MY country and accuse a check-out cashier of bombing YOUR countrymen. It is my belief that had you been this outspoken in YOUR own country, we wouldn't need to be there today. But, hey, if you have now learned how to speak out so loudly and clearly, I'll gladly buy you a ticket and pay your way back to Iraq , so you canstraighten out the Mess in YOUR country, that you are obviously here in MY country to avoid.' Everyone within hearing distance cheered!

Not so sure I believe this person was truely from Iraq. My Lions Club has an Iraqi-American member and he was in the Iraqi Army in the early 70's. The stories of brutality he tells are unbelievable. He has been a LEGAL US citizen for over 30 years and he is very happy we are freeing his home country. We are sooooo lucky to have grown up free. It is easy for us to say, "Why don't you stick up for yourselves?", but we can't image what it is like to be submissed under Dictatorship rule that allows the senseless killing of our family members and lets his sons rape and pilage for fun.

I love this country....I have a two friends with sons in active duty...one in Iraq and one unsure but thinks Afganistan (his kid is special forces). They hate their kids being over there, but have nothing but good stories from their boys about how they are treated in these countries. In both cases the people welcome them with open arms and are extremely happy that the U.S. is there to help. Both re-upped for additional tours (against their parents wishes) when asked. That's gotta tell you something about what the Troops feel they are accomplishing.

The problem is here in our own country. The press rarely covers the good (only deaths in the headlines sell ratings/papers). Look at how great things are going now. And they kind of put the war on the back burner since it is doing so well.

I want our Troops to come home (I believe everyone does), but like it or not, we gotta finish the job. I thank everyone I meet for their service to our Country when I find out they have served to protect our right to be free. No matter when they served...yesterday, 10, 40, 60 years ago....they deserve a Thank you!!

T380Fisher, I completely agree with you, I support our troops wholeheartedly. I have also met Iraqi's who love America and support what we have done to help bring Democracy to their country. But, I have also seen Iraqis, who have come to the USA and taken advantage of the generosity of this country and spoken negatively about the USA
I would gladly pay for one way tickets for the latter
I'm all for immigrants who become producitve members of out society, legally
