Pascagoula man is apparent drowning victim

PASCAGOULA - A 32-year-old Jackson County man drowned during an apparent boating accident Tuesday night, officials confirmed Friday.
Jackson County Coroner Vicki Broadus said she was told that Steven Winters of Pascagoula and a friend were sports fishing some time Tuesday when their boat apparently capsized.
U.S. Coast Guard officials found Winters and the other boater in the water during a search late Tuesday. Coast Officials had already administered emergency aid to the victim before they returned to the dock on the Pascagoula River later Tuesday evening.
Broadus said Winters was pronounced dead at the Coast Guard dock in Pascagoula. She said the cause of death was ruled a drowning.
No other details were released Friday, including any information about the passenger or what prompted the boat to capsize.
However, Coast Guard officials have reported no foul play in connection with the incident.
