If the Orca existed, or an exact replica, as a charter boat, I would charter a fishing trip just to say I fished on THE Orca! But if I end up in a sharks mouth...I am suing! Well, at least my wife could sue.![]()

Some great photos Steve. Thanks for posting. I've just added them to my collection.I was at that very spot last year and as Sjogren says its extremly tough getting there without a skiff. I hiked it in but even tougher was getting out as the tides rose and I wasn't aware of that. Lets just say almost had to swim out.

One thing to note is that boat in the foreground had nothing to do with the production and is just a generic vessel Murphy beached there. It does look a lot like the SS. Minnow...but no relation to the film. The Orca(2) remains are actually just behind that if you look closely.
The last photo in your collection is whats left of the barge used to ferry Bruce around. It was labeled the SS. garage sale for obvious reasons. Excuse me for going into great detail because I feel odd doing so when there're so many veteran locals here on board that were actually there way back when like Sjogren. Next trip I take to MV I hope to catch up with some of you. And of course Lynn.
Yes a Greener! Thats the one. You're a lucky dog to to have a chance to fire that. When we do finally get an Orca back on the water that would be primo to have one on board during an outing. A question for Sjogren--
Does Steve Bryant by chance still own that greener kit? I've seen several floating around out there. One is in the collection of Universal studios at the Florida theme park and another is owned by a fan. Its still unclear which was the hero rifle. Did Steve sell his to the production crew?
Just wanted to let everyone know we have a new ORCA miniature on ebay right now to help raise funds for our full scale project:

A little over one day left and we've got 6 bids and counting. Not a bad record for this vicinity.![]()

I was wondering about that. Those pics were from last summer. I slip in there every once in a while when stopping in Menemsha - depending on who's aboard and the tide. The water by the bouy gets mighty thin for my Pursuit "skiff".
I thought that boat looked different than in previous years.I have some pics from prior years - before the boat in the foreground arrived. I'll see if I can find some older photos.
Op-Orca I have not seen Steve Bryant in years so who knows what happened to the 'poon gun.
This happened many years ago so I only remember bits and pieces and some may not be factual .
This is a very cool thread. Thanks guys!
Please do! I'd love to add them to our archive collection and they'd be invaluable to our research efforts. We've got many photos of Orca2 taken by Lynn before the boat was decimated and many by locals like some of you here. But there's certainly always a need for more, as the boat is never in the same condition from photo to photo, based on degradated scavenging.
You can email me the full size images here if you like: oporca @yahoo.com
Well thats a shame. If you do get any leads on Steve do let me know. That poon gun is a keeper. I wonder if it ended up in the collection of a friend of mine who does own one used in the film. There's another at USF in Orlando as well. There was also one travelling as part of a musem exhibit in chicago a few years ago though I'm not sure which is which now. I do know there are at least two (film used guns) in existance. (see photo).
