There was an article on this out here in CA. The benchmark price quoted in the news is for West Texas Intermediate. Due to the severe economic downturn, there's a glut of West Texas Intermediate. Problem is that there's no pipelines to get it to the coasts to be refined. Such pipelines would cost billions to build so they won't do that to address a temporary issue. The result is that here in CA we're buying our oil from Canada at about $10 per barrel more than the quoted price for West Texas Intermediate. Similar situation on the East Coast. Meanwhile, in the middle of the country the tank farms are brimming with West Texas Intermediate.

I swear, Big Oil must hire a room full of spin doctors to come up with this shit, theirs always a reason,and its NEVER there fault,but then when there quarterly's are posted... the old record gets smashed and a new one is made.There profits for 2008 were in the billions, but its not there fault,
