    oil crisis

    A lot of folks can't understand how we came

    to have an oil shortage here in our country.

    ~~~
    Well, there's a very simple answer.
    ~~~

    Nobody bothered to check the oil.

    ~~~
    We just didn't know we were getting low.
    ~~~

    The reason for that is purely geographical.

    ~~~
    Our OIL is located in
    ~~~

    ALASKA

    ~~~
    California
    ~~~

    Coastal Florida

    ~~~
    Coastal Louisiana
    ~~~

    Kansas

    ~~~
    Oklahoma
    ~~~

    Pennsylvania

    and

    Texas

    ~~~
    Our
    DIPSTICKS
    are located in
    Washington, DC!!!
    ?
    Any Questions???
    NO? Didn't think So.
    That's a good question?
    I'm old enough to remember the 1974 oil embargo. I also remember reading that most of the worlds scientists said that we only had enough oil to last until 1994! What happened? Anyway, lots of republicans want to expand our domestic oil production but the tree hugging Volvo driving liberals won't let them.
    Just Venting!
    Can you name any that have introduced any legislation promoting domestic production?
    Believe me, I am more conservative than 90% of the congress critters in the Republican party, and I have come to the conclusion that they are the Party of lip service, while the Dems are ,openly, the party of Nonsense.
    To believe strongly in either party is as valid as belief in the tooth fairy.
    I drive a VOLVO!........Just kidding, no body in America wants the oil refineries in their back yard! Even if we did drill in the remote areas of the United States, it would take several years before the first drop of oil hit the fuel pumps. Everyone blames the rising prices on the next guy...
    1. China is demanding more oil than ever!
    2. The demand is way higher than the supply!
    3. Big oil companies say they dont controll the cost at the pump...but yet their profits for this quarter alone are!!!!
    A.Exxon 51 billion
    B. Ammoco/BP 47 billion
    C. Hess 41 billion
    D. Shell/Texoco 50 billion
    Where are they getting all the profits????? Our pockets!
    Dont get me started!
    One of the biggest problems.....remember I said ONE...is that there has not been a new refinery built in the U.S. since the mid 1970's..... doesn't matter how much crude oil you have, if you don't have the facilities to make gas, fuel oil, diesel..... it doesn't matter.
    When the oil company executives were asked why they aren't building new refineries, they try to tell the public that "nobody wants them in their back yard"..... GIVE ME A FRIGGIN BREAK!!......you mean nowhere in the oil belt from Louisiana, Texas, northern California, and New Jersey you can build a NEW refinery!!!..... WTF!!!
    The object of all business, large and small is to increase profit every quarter. Accepting less is very poor management. And record profits usually indicate record sales. As you stated , China and India are buying more and more oil.
    That is a supply and demand issue.
    In addition the price of oil is dictated by the sale of futures on the open comodity markets. These futures are not conrtolled by the oil companies, they are bought by investors, speculators and fund managers. The suits manageing your own 401 k may be part of the equation.
    It bothers me that profit has become a bad word in America. Without it we sink.
