Off The Hook - Whats the deal?

So I watched the show on OLN - Off the Hook - when they went to FL to go swordfishing. It seemed like right away that the anglers were at the captain/crews throats from the beginning and vice versa. Then there was the whole you peed in the toilet standing up deal... And the anglers saying I have been fishing for 30 years I dont need a lesson.

But the one guy had never caught a wahoo before and so I am guessing that they have never caught a swordfish before either and I would assume that the technique is a little different when drifting - I dont know I have never caught one.

And I have yet to be on a boat where the captain said its ok to take a leak just dont stand up or go over the side. I know that captains are particular about the toilets and that looked like a nice ride - surely if he didnt want them using it he would have said something.

So whats the deal - are these guys loud mouths that couldnt catch bait and didnt want to listen to the crew or a seasoned group of anglers and the crew felt they were dealing with a bunch of loud mouths drinking all day?

What did the producers cut out that they never aired that told the rest of the story.

Just wondering it was a painful show to watch and I dont know any of the people in it - it was my first time watching the show.

I saw that show, and was thinking the same thing. It looked like it could be a good show, but then it was painful. I think the bada bing fishing team was probably driving the capt. crew crazy on that first day, that is why they got the cold shuld er from capt. and crew. As it is Offshore fishermen dont get enough air time( way too much bassmasters, fishing in ponds for bait) and they put out this and the Team Jersey cape disaster, we wont be seeing anymore offshore fishing on tv

I didn't see this episode, but I did see one a couple weeks ago. I liked the premise- group of buddies travel around and fish different places, have fun, and catch fish. I thought I would see some good fishing, have some laughs, and learn something new. Without bashing, I think that the show missed the mark. If they wanted to live up to the premise, I think that they should have a group like the Phoebe-Lynn team from the east vs west do the show. Now they looked like they know how to fish, but more importantly know how to have fun, and how to represent the sportfishing community in a positive, professional way.

I really didnt care for the way some of the anglers acted towards the captain and crew on TV it seemed like they were just trying to act like the Sopranos on a fishing trip.

Ha ha ha. I know what you're saying. The one I saw they were in Hawaii and they were berrating a taxi driver for being late, and complaining about the traffic. I mean, you're in Hawaii, can't you enjoy it?! Funny stuff.

I was thinking the same thing. I was also suprised they got so worked up about the captain having no glass bottles on his rig. Every charter or captain iI know doesnt allow glass bottles. It seems like very epiosde that get into a fight with someone . But I really like the show too bad the last episode is over this friday.

No worries. I have a feeling that the show will be forgotten before long. It's not like it's a terrible show, it just lacks "it" in terms of a fishing show.

You could name it Mary's The best kept secret...

Or put a sign on the road with an arrow pointing to where Admin parked the SFC Hilton... "Deep C was Here"

I was hoping that somebody else saw the show. Certainly not the best sportfishing program I have seen on the tube but I did enjoy looking at that beautiful boat and seeing some fish caught. Anyone know what boat that was? Kinda looked like a Bayliss.

And did anyone notice out the crazy eyes on the one guy? yikes! As far as fishing with guys from NY, one of my bestest fishing buddies is from Long Island. I love fishing with him and the whole NY/LI attitude and accent thing. But an entire crew of them - oh boy!
