Language, but who say's "those weren't the good old day's"?????? A man was EXPECTED to be a man and take of himself and his family. Not so much anymore, trouble is they are the one's who will suffer in the end because of the pride that no longer exist's. JMO, Frank

My personal view is that they have drawn enough attention to the twin problems they protest, income disparity and opportunity disparity, that they've already had an enormous impact on the political process. Both dem and repubs are taking substantial notice. The dems are incorporating some of the OWS planks into their own platform for 2012 and the repubs are avoiding some fights and, hopefully, planks in their platform for 2012 that are now exposed by OWS.
I think they've had more impact in the few short months they've been active than the whole of the civil rights movement had in it's first 10 years.
Still, there is something unsettling about the high percentage of taxes that the top 1 - 2 % pay. Frankly, I didn't know of the magnitude of those numbers before OWS ideas were challenged.
But I also didn't know of the incredibly large percentage of American wealth they control (own) vs. the other classes. I've seen exsimates as high as 78% of American wealth is controled by as few as 5% of Americans. That's troubling too.
In the end, however, the OWS movements most chilling disclosure is that social ascendancy is over in America for all but the upper class. Take a moment and think of why most conservatives still cling to capitalism. Isn't it because they feel that without this particular system they couldn't aspire to become wealthy? I think it is.
Well, what if American capitalism in its current form has extinguished uppward class mobility in America. Wouldn't you feel differently about the whole thing then? I think so.

looking at the 1% 'rs from a hands on experience..a local golf course along with development was recently sold at auction..800K for property that was valued at 25 mill 10 years ago, now the course had been closed for 5 years..massive 15,000 sq ft clubhouse in disrepair..property values in the toilet..and along came this buyer..when i got the first job rebuilding the main bar,i googled the new owner..net worth? 15 BILLION. this club sits in Brunswick county,11% unemployment.. this man set about rebuilding the club..course..clubhouse, to date theres about 40 employees, full medical after 1 year..good salerys..on the property alone i estimate he's spent 1.5 million on capitol improvments..imagine what it takes to start up a golf course about from scratch..clubhouse w/ full resturant..soup to nuts..i imagine he will have millions in this venture said and done..so if he only pays 2% in tax's but invests heavy in our country..money that goes straight to the people not friggin washington..let him keep paying 2%..all day long.
Sooooo OWS ..a message from your sponsor - SOCIALISM DOESN'T WORK.
The trickle down has allowed me to make a very nice living and provide well for my family. No, I'm not ever going to be as wealthy as my customers but that's not my barometer for my success . I have been very fortunate to acquire a group of clients that can afford our services and have kept my business profitable for 28 years.

In this video, you can see how much the OWS movement has impacted the rhetoric and, hopefully, the motivations of the Democratic party in 2012.
But hey, I also remember "Change We Can Believe In". Nothing changed but for the pockets into which the millionaires and billionaires funnelled their donations.
Obama is, essentially, as fraudulent as a populist leader as is trickle-down (Vudoo) economics too actual economic theory.
Trickle down is but a buzzword for rationalizing someone sitting atop most of the resources and when they feel rare benovolence sprinkling a few tokens on the less fortunate much like the ancients would toss coins to the hungry throngs in the street as their carriages or man-portable reclining beds passed. It's not the basis on which a modern democracy can be sustained.
Indeed, it will create a populist revolution which might very well result in the sorts of socializing of society most of you revile. So, just keep it up. Keep showing your allegiance to oligarchy and plutocracy. But beware of the slumbering but massive polulist lions it has already disturbed.

I find it hard to be behind a group of folk's in dred lock's and don't look like they've ever had a job. Never mind the poster's among them that read "socialism isn't a dirty word". Not really sure what their driving message was, just on the surface, it wasn't appealing to me. Did I mention living in tent's and not bathing for week's? Reminded me of the hippy movement a few year's back. Frank
