By bringing them here they will no longer be tried as war criminals they will be tried the same as US citizens and we all know how well that goes, say OJ the first time around. I could not believe he was going to let the prisoners go... some of them were going to be in jail for the rest of their lives with no trial ... now they will be here and will be walking the streets, our judicial system and the granolas will see to that.

IMO a very mature non-political decision. Gitmo is a terrorist recruiter's dream. Absolutely no deterrent effect, no intelligence value whatsoever and flies absolutely in the face of the American values of justice and fair play (deserved or otherwise).

Sorry too disagree with so many on this board, but IMO this is a shift from a proven failed strategy of overstated and ineffective 'hard power' to a strategy of 'soft power' (think Teddy Roosevelt, speak softly and carry a big stick) that has proven to be a hallmark of American leadership.

Iggy... WTF???? Applying your logic, one could say "Well, if we were to close all prisons in the US, the criminals will stop being criminals...prisons are a criminals recruiter's dream"

My opinion? IF and I mean IF these so called "terrorist" are truly "terrorist" and if they truly were behind the 911 ordeal WITHOUT ANY HELP....... then I say we need to kill them; on the spot. Why house and feed such a virus? Now, if they are there as a "show"... ie: Here ya go America, here are these REALLY CREEPY bad guys... see them?... ya, they are really bad... ooooh.....
