I won't watch him anymore than...

...I'd watch Bush. After the My Fellow Americans part they all lie like street hookers caught up in a sting.

Virtually all he says will be tonic to salve the idiots into complacency.

State of the union... More like state of the onion... It stinks...

"My fellow Amereicans"... My ass... He's Kenyan or Indonesisan or anything but American. Socialist undermining skunk! We are rapidly turning into the regret republic... Dumb asses voted for "Hope and change"? Well now we really are hoping for change and with each election from here on out I hope we vote out anybody that hitched their horse to his wagon.

What can he possibly say. We have the highest unemployment, tripple the national debtt we had just two years ago, this country is tits up and takin on water. He has not accomplished one thing except to insure that every time it looks like we're digging out of this hole he'll dig it deeper...
Shame on all of us... Not just the idiots that were swayed by his pretty words that didn't say a thing. All of us for not drumming into their heads how bad of a choice they were about to make. All of us for not being satisfied with things as being kind of ok. We got greedy. We wanted more and now have come to the realization that less is all we're gonna get if we are even that lucky.
When he first appeared. I even said, "Hmmm. Sharp, eloquent, might have something here..." Then I actually listened to the words that poured from his mouth... Sounded ok but when you strung them together they said absolutely nothing. I mean doubletalk at its finest. When he did say something that actually constituted a sentence I could read bullshit all over it. Then when I saw who he was hangin with and read his track record, I knew we were screwed.
Wake the hell up America! Do the homework and in the future we won't have this kind of colossal mistake we have made.

    Ignorant Rant.

"He's Kenyan or Indonesisan or anything but American."

I suppose you're speaking in the hypothetical.

Obama has many faults, I'll give you that. But he one you pointed out is not one of them.

I think most of all Obama lacks clout...LBJ sort of clout. LBJ knew so much dirt about every single one of his fellow legislators that if they thought he'd expose them they kiss his ring and then move on down from there. He was a dirty, sucker punching renegade. And, he got things done.

Looking back on it now I just can't believe that he made so much progress, whether you like it or not, on race legislation and on the great society. He could twist arms like no one before him and no one since.

Obama is just too new to the scene.

The General Feeling On the SOTU Address appears to be...

    ...cynical dismissiveness.

Americans are, in general, cynical about their politicians. I certainly am. And, cynicism has certainly replaced hope in this recession (some call it the Great Recession, by the way).

But dismissiveness is something rather new. We dismiss people and ideas because we think they aren't of consequence. Sadly, Obama with but a year in office appears to have been relegated to that category.

Obama said in a recent interview that he'd much rather be a successful one term president than a mediocre two term president. Well, that's what's called a "false choice". He's much more likely to be a failed one term president.

At least he's refrained from blaming it all on Bush who by my count, at least, bears substantial responsibility for what ails the country right now. Still, we rightfully look to the guy in office to fix things and not make them worse.

It's been a year now. And, no one held a gun to Obama's head to make him follow the ill-advised policies of Bush's astonishing leap in the Federal Debt (5.7 trillion to, by some accounts, more than 14 trillion if we count the off the books debts of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mae and the money that spewed like water from an open spigot out the Federal Reserve window). Obama also continued the TARP program bail-outs and the Federalizing of the debt of Freddie Mack and Fanny Mae. Lastly, the GM bailout was Obama's alone.

So, the accountability rightfully falls to Obama. Good luck with it, Barack. Despit the fact that Bush landed us in this mess, you continued his failed policies. You own it now. I don't think history is going to be kind.

    Great post Longfisher.

You're right about the debt stuff. It is astonishing that we have gone from the black ink that Clinton left us straight downhill to truly unsustainable debt.

To POTUS' credit, he turned around the economy and it is growing. I got a brokerage statement yesterday that showed 25% growth in 2009. Pretty impressive, but greatly tempered by the massive spending it took to heal the massive financial wounds inflicted by GWB.

I thought the SOTU was pretty good. I just hope to God he can come through on at least some of his promises.

    Here's what mystifies me:

Why didn't all you guys screaming about Obama's spending say anything while GWB spent and borrowed us into this situation?

Once again he delivers just as he did in his campaign:

Fluffy lofty promises that no one will question "How is he going to deliver?" which he won't keep.

Oh yeah, we'll create 1 million jobs here and there...sure...why not. As we take 1 million jobs from here.

Yeah, good stuff. At least they didn't cut the American Idol auditions short because of that.

Speaking of which: Anyone see the hot ass chick sing the Barney song in full dominatrix garb?

Admittedly, GWB did not know what a veto pen was designed for. The Dems, whom were in control for much of his term, were more than capable of sending legislation to his desk loaded with the waste that dug the hole we are in. Obama and supporters blame Bush for everything imaginable including Scott Brown winning, yet he expects us to accept that we can spend our way out an ever increasing mess. We are still waiting for the "line by line" budget critique. By the way, how much has every new or "saved" job cost?

I cried foul for years, many years Wauwinet.

I voted for Bush in 2000.

I wouldn't have voted for Bush on a bet after 9/11. I only once in my life before saw someone so stupified with fear as I saw Bush on 9/11. I relieved that Sargent right then and there.

Then Bush turned to his inner self, the mean-spirited bull in the china closet self. The knee-capper that he'd been during his Dad's campaign. The petty little jerk-wad that every coward ultimately shows himself to be.

Oh, but I diverge. We're talking about his financial failures.

Let's all remember that he ushered in the largest Federal entitlement program in many decades with the pharmaceutical drug program for seniors. Trillions it will cost us before long. Some reputable Republicans objected. Most were mute.

I was livid. I remained livid thereafter as the national debt rose right up until the financial crisis began. And, then I went berserk with rage about that dumba**.

In fact, the first politically-oriented post I made on this board was one on a thread criticizing Obama for his spending with a graph on Bush's contribution to the national debt. For that I got nothing but praise...NOT.

That's where I was first erroneously called a liberal by the Gentleman who's publicly stated he won't return to SFC for all the name calling. Good riddance. If you dish it out make sure you've a plate from which to eat you own share in return.

But virtually no one on this board or anywhere else that I know of where so-called conservatives frequent had Bush's excesses seemed top-of-mind in the minds of conservatives. Virtually completely silent, they were. They only came to life with criticism (and racism) when Obama followed in Bush's footsteps.

Pseudo conservatives, that's all. Partisan hacks, that's all. They're about as informed and about as conservative as that rabble rouser political hack Glenn Beck, that's all.

And, they've betrayed their obligations as citizens by being such partisan fools (or is the word tools?)
