My opinion here is pretty well set in stone. Reinforced every day as I look at that skyline missing its key ingredient. Reinforced even more as I walk or drive around a community whos four hundred odd of the three thousand sons, daughtes, mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers went away. I see the empty faces and hear the mothers cries. Just like pearl harbor. Those who ignore or forget history are doomed to repeat it.

The rules went out the window that Tuesday morning... They drew first blood not me... Yeah it sounds cliche from a "B" movie but accurate. Not only am I for torture I would go the added mile to hang as traitors, those politically correct mambie pambies who want to impede our cia or military in carrying out their assigned tasks with this bullshit beauracracy.

The bad guys didn't enter into the no torture contract with us so by all means skin the buggers alive... there is no contract there. Now if a civilized nation on a civilized level was at war with us and they had signed on to follow the rules then and only then would I agree that we need to stay inside the lines... Until then I say tooth pick their eyes open and make em watch Oprah or Roseanne re runs...

Moral equivilency? Call it what you will. I'm for taking it a few steps down further... Stooping a notch below them is fine by me if it'll get this mess over with quicker. This isn't Bush or "Rep" stance. Fuck morals... The last time we were faced with finaticism of the level we're facing today thousands of years in the making we lit a candle up their ass... Twice... And the last time I chacked Truman had a "D" next to his party affiliation...

    That man speaks the truth...

there should be no rules. Crush them. They want to kill every man, woman, and child. You people who object to torture are the darwin effect.

Why We're Losing? Look in the Mirror, Gentlemen

The above three posts reflect the near-prehistoric attitudes of the Bush administration and its Republican supporters who through their inconsolance over 9/11 and their aggitation for blood revenge have set the stage for our defeat in the Middle East. Just ask the acting general in Afghanistan how wrong your views are. He's seeking to protect the innocent people.

Anyway, it looks like the Bush Administration principals in the torture program are going to get their just deserts. A Spanish judge has reopened a suit against them. Under Spanish law their magistrates can prosecute war crimes wherever they're found. And, they are surely found here in the U.S.

    Please see:

    http://dandelionsalad.wordpress.com/...y-worthington/

I'm very heartened by this news. I'd very much like to see the legacy of the Bush Administration and the unhinged Republican party of that era nailed down in the history books as the most criminal and near-fascist of all time, as is sure the case to any objective standard.

Lastly, I'm struck by the above posts and how similar your attitudes are towards innocent Muslims to what we understand are the attitudes of the the Muslim extremists towards us. They and you seem perfectly satisfied with the wanton murder of civilians and other innocents (the Iraqi soldiers who defended Iraq from the illegal aggressive war the U.S. prosecuted in Iraq were merely Iraqi patriots and not terrorists as some of you believe, so, they were innocent and heroic). I don't see a lot of space between the the Muslim extremists and you guys, American extremists.

But I do hear you bemoan the loss of innocent American lives without uttering a single word of remorse about the loss of innocent foreign lives. Essentially, you're saying that American lives are worth more than the lives of others. That's virtually the definition of American Exceptionalism and it's a thoroughly disgusting philosophy which has ushered in a whole new era of anti-Americanism and schadenfreude (again, go look it up).

But I'll bet you never heard of American Exceptionalism and it's spawn schadenfreude before, right? Perhaps, that's because the uneducated Glen Beck who you likely rely upon for your news and direction (and propoganda) doesn't use those terms, right?

As I said before, many Americans became what they beheld. You three certainly fit well within that group.

I know this will come as a surprise to you, but most Americans are better people than you are. The days of the vengeful super-patriots like you are over. That scum was decisively poured out in the last two elections and the venerable Republican Party was all but destroyed. Your senseless hatreds had consequences.

Smarter and wiser minds are now in control, like McCrystal in Afghanistan. He's doing everything in his power to spare the innocents. I don't give him much chance of success because of all the senseless murders the U.S. committed in Afghanistan under Bush. But at least I'll give him credit for using an enlightened approach.

My prediction is, again, that the Bush criminals so polluted the water in the Middle East that any further fighting is fruitless, unnecessarily costly as it won't deliver positive results and should stop immediately. It's not too late to declare victory and leave. But it will be too late very soon.

Then America will crawl on its belly, at worst, or retreat on its knees, at best, as we leave in utter strategic defeat. The Iraq is already considered the greatest strategic debacle in American history. And, it's mostly because of people like you within and without the Bush Administration who were/are called neoconservatives, who bought into Pax American and the Bush Doctrine (go look it up, damn it) or who became super-patriots filled with blood lust and revenge.

Were is your outrage of the Democrats that were briefed and agreed with the waterboarding? Does the name piglosi ring a bell? Oh, that's right she refuses to talk about it. How convenient.
We all loved your tough guy post. Hunting down a man who "threatened" you and your family. You are not for torture but you don't mind physically harming another human. Take your "holier than thou" and shove it....hypocrit!

    Democrat Inaction During Bush's Term

An above poster said, "Were [SIC] is your outrage of the Democrats that were briefed and agreed with the waterboarding?"

I'm not sure that's the way it actually worked. It's a good deal more complicated than that.

But I can assure you I felt that some select Democrats were each to one degree or another and due to their silence and inaction complicit with Bush's torture regime. I also feel they were complicit for political reasons.

My take on it is that they felt that Bush and Cheney were so overreaching that they would surely fail and to paraphrase a tire cliche, "when your opponent is digging his own grave you needn't even hand him a shovel. You need only remain silent and observe".

That sort of attitude is hyper-political and anti-American.

Only Feinstein and Conyers and Frank and a few others were actually representing their constituents and executing their duty to the nation in a professional and non-partisan manner when they voiced and continue to voice their opposition and disgust with the abuse and torture. Indeed, Conyers committee looks like it's going to be calling witnesses soon, perhaps even Bush and Cheney, in preparation for their prosecutions for war crimes. Hallaluyah, this despite Obama's reluctance to try them.

But these few aren't on the small committe of representatives and senators who were briefed (just six, I think). It is to their lifelong discredit that those who were briefed, however poorly as they assert, didn't raise Holy Hell about it. It was clearly illegal to them. They should have done more, despite their assertions that they were bound by the law not to disclose the programs under pain of prosecution themselves.

So, I agree with you completely on this one aspect of your post. The rest I'll ignore as it's unreasoned name-calling.

Believe it or not there are ex-Republicans, many of them, who feel much like I do and would like to get our party back. You fools stand in the way of that.

Oh, and about the huffingtonpost.com, moveon.org and dailykos.com (if I've got the names correct), I've only visited the Huffington Post site a couple of time even during the Bush years. I found the site seedy and unserious. So, I rarely visit it.

I've never visited the other sites you mention. Are they worth visiting?

    Cool

    Longfisher ,

Everyone here understands you are a bleeding heart liberal who blames Bush/Republicans for everything so move on to something intelligent .

A task for you, not sure it can be done. Please explain how the highest taxed states, which coincidentally are Democratic states, are in the worst financial condition. Another sad fact is that in those states , a majority of the income tax revenues are collected from CONSERVATIVES / REPUBLICANS.

Be nice to us, we may decide to throw our feet up and kick back for a little stimulus, then where are you leftists going to get the revenues for your "OUT OF CONTROL SPENDING" ???

I was going to reply earlier but Ive been busy. I had a well thought out reply answering your rhetoric hopefully providing you with the very reasons some things are necessary. Then after reading your latest threads Im glad I hit the backspace button and wiped it. Youve proved with your supposed views on torture and how you would handle a threat on your family that you are the worst kind of Liberal one that wont admit they are a Liberal because they know that a rational person will tune them out as soon as they know, but worse yet your a clone for the Obama administration. Your one of those that believe your better and more intelligent than the rest that and you deserve special treatment. Just like the Obamanation when asked if he would be giving up his special medical coverage to be covered under his new plan, he completely ignored the question and refused to answer. The plans not good enough for him. You refuse to answer with substance any question that has a negative answer, just like Pelosi and the waterboarding question. No its not more complicated than that, they knew all about the situation and did nothing until it was advantageous to them. According to the law their just as guilty. Its the same as knowing a crime is going to happen, watching it happen, and doing nothing to stop it or reporting it. They brought it up to cover their own asses and for their own political agendas when it was convienant for their cause and not before.
Well Im done this is going nowhere. As my Grandfather would say "Arguing with a Liberal is pointless, theres no logic in it." Or in this case "dont argue with an Idiot they'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience".

    Please Read for Comprehension

    Nautiduck,

I think if you simmer down and re-read my post about Pelosi you'll see that your words of rebuttal and the sentiments they represent are virtually all found in that post.

I book no praise for the Democrats who were in the know and didn't do anything to stop it. If you'd read for comprehension you'd know that.
