So, Obama had to fly into Boston to give a speech to help Coakly, the Democratic candidate, maybe prevail over the Repubilcan challenger both of whom are vying for Ted Kennedy's now vacant seat. Funny, funny, funny.
Not only does the elections of a Republican to that seat seek possible it's even likely. Although if that happens I expect all sorts of lawsuits for recounts to happen in Ma. of the sort so popularized by the Republicans with Al Franken was trying to be seated and although I expect the vote on healthcare reform to happen during those challenges with a Democratic win, it sure points to a stink pot for the Democrats to even be defending such a seat, much less potentially losing it.
As I've said elsewhere, the Republicans are not going to be the force that does Obama and the Dems in in 2010 and maybe 2012. It's the coalition of Democratic and independent voters who rightfully ousted the Republicans in 2006 and 2008 due to gross mismanagement who will do it. Most of them and certainly I thought we'd be done with the Patriotic Acts evils along with having Bush Cheney and Rumsfeld in chains by now.
This possible election loss will go to the heart of Obama's, apparent strategy, to get health care reform done in an atmosphere of as much comity as possible before prosecuting Bush, et. al. for being enemies of the state. He's unlikely to get either.
It would have been best, I think, to announce the arrest of Bush and his minions from the podium on January 20th of last year. Am I right?
