me llamo SUPER Dave
I'll admit, I haven't read the bill, and wont. I've had about enough of what this Administration is up to for now. I'll look at it when I get a chance and my blood pressure is stable.
What I meant was your first instincts were correct....
"My philosophy has always been that I don't think citizens should have a governmental "right" to a college eduation, but all citizens should have an opportunity to get a college education should they so desire.---- a difficult public policy task, no doubt."
I wasn't commenting on any lending authorities decision to lend to someone based on their studies. My frustration lies with a system that promises grandeur after simply completing a 4 year program and going into a large amount of debt.
I think out government is more worried about perpetuating higher education that actually looking into the best interests of our society as a whole.
Just because loans are available for people to obtain a 4 year degree, it doesn't mean they should do so, and there is no one out there telling them that they'd be better off not doing so.
I have a number of peers that think they are intelligent b/c they have obtained a degree, and many others that sheepishly share the fact that they haven't. It's a sad commentary on what our society considers important.
