I know I'm not going to sound real nice here, but what's new. When I hear the phrase "long term" unemployed, I don't think of those that have just lost their job's to this sour economy. "Long term" unemployed means, long term welfare recipient's to me. The good folk's of this Country who are used to working for a living will do whatever they have to, to provide for their familie's, they're not gonna sit on their tail's. I know that it's harder to find a job now than it has been in the recent past, but those that want to work are rarely the "long term" unemployed. The way I see it, most low income (welfare) familie's are just that because that's all they want. They don't have the drive to go to school, work mutliple job's, move if necessary, leave their wife and kid's at home and go work out of state or country if needed. I'm sorry you can't help someone that's not willing to help himself. If a man want's to work the best thing you can do is get out of the way and let him go. Democracy at work. I believe there was a thread up last week that defines what happens when the principals of the republic [ our constitution ] are turned into a democracy that only represents a certain group of people. The video is a perfect example.

As a General Contractor , i find this to be the most f$#ced up thing coming out of obamama's camp, dump billions of dollars into the economy,give it to unskilled labor hirers,and expect THAT to stimulate the economy, what it will do is make our infrastructure unsafe to use,thereby costing billions more to fix correctly, anyone know of a small island for sale...i'm outta here till '10. gone................................................

"A lot of money" will be what is needed when the first round of Azzholes F#*& up the job and then it has to be re-done by the skilled workers.

Zeewolf I agree but it takes much longer than four years to become a craft or tradesmen of any merit. To join the carpenters (joiners) union it takes a four year apprenticeship but that includes many hours of class time testing and supervised hands on training. Most of the other trades are similar. To just plop someone into onto a site have some maybe semi skilled workers tell someone what to do it will take a hell of alot longer to become proficient enough to be considered a skilled tradesman. To think that they are going to put a bunch of correctly trained workers on our infrastructure is ludicrous. I have apprenticed in the electrical, carpenters, ironworkers, HVAC, and plumbing trades, as well as having worked in several other positions in the construction industry and Ive learned it takes many months for new unskilled people to even become decent laborers. This is pandering at it finest lets all gather around and kiss the new guys ass so he thinks were part of the team. I hope some shoots them all.

The sound bites sure sound like crazy-talk to me. For all the talk of a strong middle class it sure seems like you either need to be long term unemployed or a big bank exec to get a handout around here. Basically everyone but the middle class gets some....

we now refuse calls for upgrade's to new homes in subdivisions due to crappy construction , walls are out..floors not level..trusses improperly fastened ect...all have one thing in common...built by immigrant labor..unskilled immigrant labor, so if i encounter this situation here in a small demographic...imagine the Verrazano bridge being replicated by the same labor pool that cant even build a decent 1500sqft home.......
