Red face No Boss... I didn't...

Get all my chores done today.... I did load some spools and tie some leaders for sailfishing but didn't finish my list.

One of the things that keeps me sober and sane is accomplishing at least some projects every single day. Doesn't always have to be back breaking marathon work but at least a couple things done seven days a week.

Today would be simple. Unload the summer crap out of the 31 and replace with sailfishing goods. Mend a leaky washdown hose and put fresh lines on the riggers... Simple enough. The weather delightful and the marina buzzing with business. Fork lifts come and go transporting their valuable cargo to and from the water and I patiently wait my turn.

Then over the high reving diesels I hear a scraping sound. I turn toward the sound not seeing anything at first. Eyes focus and it comes clear...

Did I just see what I thought I saw? I take a leisurely stroll and it becomes clear that I'm not going to get the 31 launched any time soon...

Oh well... I sat and looked at it for a while. Then a bunch of colorful trucks and boats came from all directions with pretty flashing lights. They stopped and people got out all dressed for halloween...

So no boss, I didn't finish all my projects today. Cant say I didn't try though. Live with it.

If somebody is looking for a job driving forklift.....It looks like a position just came available.
I expect a crane will be arriving shortly, if it's not there already.
Disaster always seems to strike on a friday.

Yup... I'd say that position is open. The guy driving it flat out missed the stopping pads. He just climbed out and started walking... Never stopped just walked til he was out of site and didn't come back...

Oh one little detail... Its Saturday...

Nope... Fork was going in naked to pick one up... That in itself when they get busy is rare. Usually put one in and take one out.

No boats and no people hurt...

Man... Just watched it on the news... The way they tell it the Exxon Valdez ran into the Titanic...

"At least fifty gallons of oil leaked from the enginge as it exploded in the crash. The boat that it was carrying flew off narrowly missing a bystander but wasn't damaged..." Aye carumba!

Thats stinks for everyone. Looks like they may want to make the stop pads a little wider, the ones here are about 8'... "Missed it by that much"...

Funny you mention that. They're actuallu more like 18" but should be full width. I was discussing that with the guy who owns the seperate ship store there. His take is that ownership went cheap. Another thinks its because the wanted better drainage from the lot cause it gets dirty and requires lots of manpower to clean.
