Nissan Recalls More Than 240,000 Trucks

    From Yahoo News:

"A total of 242,720 vehicles are part of the recall and it involves trucks sold or currently registered in 20 states and the District of Columbia. The states are: Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia and Wisconsin."

The problem has to do with air bag deployment sensors on trucks in cold weather states.

First Toyota with its truck replacement program and now Nissan. Too bad American companies, Caterpillar for example, wouldn't follow the lead of their Japanese counterparts without the necessity of complicated and expensive legal intervention. Sorry, just had to get my digs in. Storm

You know my sister-in-law had a little Toyota truck that was recalled, she brought it in and they handed her a check for $13,000 and took the truck, book value was $11,500, She took the money and bought a newer one that wasn't on the list from them for $12,000. Not a bad day at the office......

Frame was shot on hers.....no question, they handed her a check and wanted it off the road, I think they had a bad batch of smelted steel for whatever year she had......

Frame rust issue. Toyota's recall involved 1995 through 2000 trucks. Toyota was offering 1-1/2 times the Kelly Blue Book value at excellent condition for the trucks.

PS. I want to take this opportunity to thank Caterpillar for visiting my website this week (twice). It's good to know you still care.
