New TV LED, LCD, Plasma ?

I'm going to be buying a HD TV shortly probably about 42" or larger. Not sure if I should get a LCD, LED or Plasma. Can anyone please give me some guidance. I don't know what the difference is between these. It will be going into a room that is pretty bright because of being off a sun room and has 2 skylights. Like to know what type and if possible recommendations on brand.
    Thanks in advance.

Above 42" the general rule of thumb is plasma. Below, LCD. Personally I think plasma has the advantage if the room is going to be brightly lit, except they're more prone to reflections because of the glass face. So a lot of windows could be an issue.

I have a Panasonic plasma and the picture is phenomonal. It's about 2 yrs old now and absolutely no issues. Friend bought an LG at the same time and it's in the garbage already.
IE8 says this may be a phishing site....Well, DUH!!!!!!... Stupid jerks can't even spell fishing right.

one word of caution with plasma- we have 7 of them at the oc marlin club and 2 of them have died at less than 5 years old- i have been told that 5 years is the max to expect- but the pic is great.

both tv's have died within 2 weeks of one another- i will be curious to see what the rest of them do in the next month or 2.

remember that when you are looking at them to consider contrast ratio, but also remember that you won't have 6 tv's side by side in your living room to compare against- whatever you have will look good

    have fun

A friend of mine is in the industry, saw him over the holidays, and asked him about the LED. He said avoid at all cost. Evidently the mfgs are already learning that the design of the first generation are not very good, and are already looking at changing the design.

He also has similar advice to what Avenger said. 42" or under, LCD (and if you want to the best picture, higher end does make a difference). Over 42", plasma all the way. And again, higher end is definitely better quality and more longevity. I've had a Pioneer plasma for 6 years now, and it is still the bomb!

Personally LCD. Both will give you near about the same picture expect the plasmas are known to burn in the picture to the screen if left for a long time. You can't go wrong with sony or Samsung

I have a 42" plasma. Some no name brand that I bought at Wal-mart, but my son says all the components are built by a few companies, for all the manufacturers, so the brand name don't really matter.
