Not sure if your name has anything to do with the New York Giants but if it does, GO GIANTS!!!

I will keep you on the list. Anytime you want to stop by and shoot the $hit, feel free. I will send you a PM with my contact info. I am usually down at the marina after work and will be glad to answer any questions that you may have. Again I am no expert but I know a little bit about a lot of things.

    GO BIG BLUE!!!!!!

    Burg-
    Welcome to the site.
The first thing you need to do is get a drug card and haunt the marinas. Get your face known, establish some contacts and make friends.
Next, if you want to have a sex life you need to start looking for that "special" woman. It takes a good one to accept the lifestyle of a mates mate.
See if you can get on a boat as a "second" mate for a while, and soon it will turn into something more. You have to be there for the opportunity to present itself.
Just be ready for LONG HOURS, HARD WORK and LITTLE PAY. If you have alot of bills, I wouldn't suggest doing it for free. Maybe you could work out a deal with the mate to split tips or have some kind of compensation for the job, after all you will be making his life easier.
That is how I got started professionally. Befriended some mates, started just washing boats at the end of the day, catching bait, and learning how to rig.
Soon I was going on ride-a-longs and just observing, asking "stupid" questions, and soaking up as much as I could. You'll get a "feel" as to when is the right time to approach someone about a job, and maybe you'll get lucky. I did.
It was the most rewarding fifteen years of my life. I got to do things that alot of people just dream about. Every time I get back out to the bluewater, I kinda miss it, but then I remember the bad parts and reasons why I gave it up.
Best of luck to you in your quest.
