new guy wants new to me boat...

New guy here just looking to get educated. Looks like this place will be lots of help to me!!

Sold "Upgradeable" and looking to find "Upgradeable Too"

I am interested in a center console Custom Carolina built boats but I have the urge to do some of the build myself, I would like to find a started hull or buy a older boat to fix it up the way I want it. Looking in the 25'-28' foot range and it must be trailerable. Anyone know of a GREAT deal!!! I have lots of experience in carpentry (framing and trim) but no experience with fiberglass, fairing and rigging, but I'm not afraid to try. If I can't find a started hull or project boat I may look at buying a jig and doing the whole thing. (except for painting!!!)

Looking at a long winter and need something to do anyhow.

Welcome to SFC. Where do you fish out of? You might want to post in the boats for sale section and in the boating forum. You might find what your looking for there.

Best Catch: The next bite on a jig.
Here is one, but its not a carolina boat.

Sounds like it needs a new floor, bracket and outboards. Plus a trailer, but getting a new trailer takes a lot of the worry out of the experience.

I know there are a couple of hulls @ Gillikin Custom Boats in Harker's Island, NC.. One is stripped up and the other almost stripped. They are probably right in the size range you are looking for. If you can track down James, I'm sure he would be MORE than happy to get rid of one for probably next to nothing. They are both very pretty Carolina hulls.
