Welcome aboard JigMiester
Are you moving there or just visiting?
San Diego is awesome, the best weather in the country if you don't like weather, hardly rains, pretty much 70 everyday give or take a few degrees, fishing in the summer is pretty awesome, great restaurants, alot to do and see, desert is close, mountains close, Sierra Nevada mountain range in driving distance (Mammoth mountain, Yosmite & Sequioa NP) all awesome. If you surf, the surf is incredible. You can surf one day and be riding 3 feet of powder the next.
Only drawback is it's very expensive, housing, taxes, gas, insurance. You pay alot to be warm and dry during January & February while the rest of the country is getting it's ass kicked and you are at the beach sippin on lemonade (cuz you can't drink on the beach anymore) and it's 75 and sunny.
We still own our condo there, we are renting it. I lost my job, had a baby boy so we decided to move here to be closer to family and it's cheaper.
I can't wait to go back and visit. I miss my sushi joint!
Anything you want to know, feel free to ask. I lived there for 13 years.
I'm looking forward to something new and finding new fishing areas here, catching some different fish, making some new friends, etc.
Change is good!

Possibly switching career paths, I was in construction management was let go and havent had much luck finding a new home so to speak. If the new path goes through we'll be moving there for a few years at least, maybe more if the wife wants to stay. She was born there but her family left when she was 4 or 5. Im still looking for a position in constuction either as a superintendant, site manager, or project manager. So we'll see what happens. Hopefully I can find one on the East Coast somewhere or at least closer to the coast 2 1/2-3 hours just aint cutting it but at this point it doesnt matter where its at. I am definately looking forward to San Diegos weather and we've been looking at properties we have found some that are reasonable, of course we dont know what the neighborhoods are like and realtors wont tell you if its a bad one. If you ever need a fishing partner or want to go hunting give me a hollar, Im boatless right now but I have 48 acres out back filled with white oak acorns that the deer and turkeys are gobbling up like crazy. Once again welcome to the neighborhood. Oh yeah what part of Charlotte are you in?
LOL. I'm in the same exact boat! I was in Construction Management and let go. I was PE/CM for a developer/builder in San Diego. I didn't find much work there plus we had a new baby so we decided now is as good time as any to move closer to family. I live in Cornelius, my inlaws are in Huntersville and my parents are in Tampa, FL.
I'm going to Grad School for Construction Management and being Mr. Mom while my wife works. Hopefully one I graduate things will be a bit better. It sucks all over right now for construction. I was thinking Charlotte will rebound relatively quick since so many people are relocating here and it's a growing city, but what do I know. Alot of people are leaving San Diego and CA.
If you can score a job there go for it, at least for a while. It's a nice place, I loved living there.
Let me know what neighborhoods you are looking at, I'll let you know the real deal! Same for any job contacts, I know alot of companies in SD. I called everyone I knew, just no one was hiring. I think you can find a Superintendent position, there seemed to be a few.
I have a few recruiters I was working with, give me a few days to look them up I'll PM you with their info.
If you wind up there, let me know, I'll hook you up with some fishing buddies with boats, maybe they can take you out. Alot of cool fisherman out there, I met a bunch of great guys.
Were are you in Charlotte? Keep in touch.
Welcome Jig-
Geez there's alot of us CM's on the street! I finally landed at a community bank (in Cornelius) doing new branch p.m. and special asset work. Special asset isn't much fun but it's putting food on the table.
We need a CM striper trip on Norman- I have the boat but have to work around duck season...caught my first LKN striper last winter. Good fun for freshwater...
If I hear of anything I'll let you and Nauti know, but almost every gc I talk to is just trying to stay alive and ride out the storm.
