Everyone is raving about these 580 lenses. What makes them better than regular polarized lenses ?

What color do you guys like (grey, blue mirror, etc) ?

The good folks at Costa told me the grey lenses were all arouynd use and the blue mirror, my color, were specific for off shore use. best I have ever used!

    Basically,

In strong glare they remove some of the yellow in the spectrum letting you see more of the red, blue and green. It's a pretty neat effect, it seems like your vision is a little sharper.

Elusive, Capt. Chuck is right on target. Yellow light is located at 580nm on the visible light spectrum and is the main producer of glare that overpowers the visual system. By suppressing light at that specific wavelength it allows the adjacent colors to appear more vivid.

I personally think the copper 580 with the green mirror is the best for all around use. Everyone that I ask to try the copper either ends up going with that or getting both!!!

hmmm - I might have to try a pair of these costas. I love the MJ shields that I got from you except for the fact that they are spring loaded and always want to fly off of my head.

Keith, the interchangeables that I know of with Costa only come in Polycarbonate lenses and are not available with the 580 technology.

Rob, let me know if I can help. The Maui Jim's are very comfortable with those lightweight frames but I hear ya' on the spring loaded part. I got a new thermz picture for you, unfortunately a different species was in the crosshairs this time!!!

    Thumbs up

I'll give two thumbs up on the 580 technology, got a pair when they first hit the market, had been using the other style Costas for years. What a major difference in visibility. No doubt the glare is reduced and you can see for miles. we spend a lot of time in the Summer sight casting to Cobia and these are a big advantage in my opinion.
