    Need a New Trailer

21' boat - between 1.5 and 2 tons. We trailer 200 miles round trip.

Looking for a dual axle trailer with brakes.

Four questions - Bunks or rollers? Why? (I think this is more of a preference thing and I know mine but I'd like to hear opinions)

Galvanized or aluminum? Why? (I know nothing about this topic)

Pros and cons of leaf springs vs torison...

    and

What brand would you suggest taking into account the above questions?

    Thanks in advance all

Well i can help on 3 of them:
Have had both rollers and bunks. I prefer bunks, hardware on the rollers did not stand up to the boat that it was holding (even though it came with the boat), I replaced roller brackets atleast every other year if not sooner. I like the fact that bunks support the boat along the entire length of the boat not just in the areas that rollers hit.

Again have had both galvanized and aluminum. Prefer aluminum, about 300# difference in my 2. Not much but I'd rather stop the 1 with 300# less. Aluminum is also more corrosion resistent as long as you take care of it. Glavanized you have to watch out if you scratch it, will begin to rust if not recoated.

Can't help you on the leaf springs vs torsion.

I can tell you one company to avoid is Venture.

Ok, my 2 cents... I prefer bunks but this is like Penn and Shamino debate, last thread on this it was about a 50-50 split...

aluminum, no doubt about it, lighter and will last longer in the salt.

With out a doubt, leaf springs. Easer to work on and cheaper to replace than a torsion axel. Just had mine done for about $35 each. I replace mine every 3 years but my boat is lanched into salt water at least 100 times a year...
