Need ideas for building a Bar that resembles a boat transom
Finally finishing my basement off. I Want to build a 'bar' that looks like a boat transom or hull.
Saw pictures on a thread awhile back but can't locate it.
Go to a boat yard and find an old rig cut the transom out .That was the thing to 2 couple years ago in Deltaville .It is the coolest thing ever. Worth the effort.

Every holiday season those of us who enjoy fishing receive a plethora of gifts with a fishing theme. Unfortunately, those doing the giving know as much about our fishing habits as they do about the inner workings of a nuclear reactor. That's how the marlin fisherman winds up with several hundred grape-flavored plastic worms in his stocking. AFTCO's new Transom Desk, however, makes the ultimate gift for the offshore fishing fanatic. A replica of a sport-fishing boat's transom, the Transom Desk is hand-crafted out of fiberglass and teak with a gel-coat finish to match your boat - or the boat of your dreams. The boat name, home port, boot stripe and bottom paint can all be matched to your specifications. An all-hardwood interior and ball-bearing desk drawers with starboard facings give the desk a solid feel of quality. AFTCO even builds in a 110- to 12-volt power converter to allow a VHF radio to be directly wired into the desk. The desk measures 73 inches long by 37 inches wide by 31 inches high. The optional right- or left-side computer return measures 45 inches long by 25 inches wide by 31 inches high. A stainless-steel rod holder serves as a cable port for all phone and computer cables, and an engraved brass name plate is included. For more information contact AFTCO, 17351 Murphy Ave., Irvine CA 92714; 714-660-8757.
In a small bar, in seaside NJ, the owner used a late model wooden Chris Craft Cruiser. He cut the supper structure away from the hull. The top he rose up over head and made wine racks and glass holders and other neat things. The transom, both sides, and foreword deck were all sanded and re-varnished and made to look like a bar top. It is one cool looking bar. 360 degrees of pure ETOH pleasure. You could probably find an old wooden boat to fit your place, make a few modifications and you are in business for less than you would think.
I don't know how to search old threads here but if I remember correctly a guy posted pictures of one his friend did in his garage back around Christmas.
