Need all of your help

I am doing this to help out one of my best friends.

One of my best friends volunteers his time to the Big Brother foundation. His "little brother" is a very nice young kid named Joey who is 17 years old. I have met Joey on numerous occasions and he really is a super nice kid with a good head on his shoulders.

Joey had previously been living under foster care. His living situations were absolutely unacceptable. He was living in the garage of his foster parents home and was only permitted to go into the house to eat and use the bathroom.

This passed Sun., Joey was brutally assaulted by two other foster children in the home, and their two friends. These individuals 16,17,18, and 25 brutally beat him for 30 min. kicking him in the body, face, and stomping him. He was just released from the hospital.

Joey is now living with his "big brother", my best friend, for the time being until he enters this program called Independent Living. Nick, my friend, and I have spoken to him about possibly joining a branch of the Armed forces once he finishes high school. He seems to be uneasy about it. However, he showed some interest in the Coast Guard.

Please, it would a tremendous help if anyone on here happens to know someone with the USCG that could possibly speak to Joey about a career and possibly pull some strings in the not so distant future. Its a tough life for Joey, but this is the best option for him to find a good future and move onward and upward with his life.

Sounds like the foster parents ought to be rung up for their actions, making a guy live in a garage just to collect state money. Hope all turns out well for the young man. I got my discipline and ethics in the Navy. The services may not be popular now but they sure do instill values.

How are Joey's grades? I guess he is a senior in high school? Does he have an intrest in college? Does he play any sports? If he is a senior this is an important upcoming year for him. There is schoolarship money out there for kids like Joey.

Jay - I am USCG Licensed Captain as are probably thousands of others on here. I have a cousin who did his time in the CG and is now a 13 year State Police Officer. I have another friend who is in the CG now. I know a few other CG retirees that I could put him in touch with. Great option, great pay and awesome experience. I went to college, but if I had it to do again I would have gone to the CG and let them pay tuition when I was finished. Anyway, I feel terrible for the young man. There are scholarships available for these types of situations for college as well. I have contacts at UD, thats where I went, but anyway PM me and I can pass some names your way. Buddy, I think that is terrible what they did to him. I have a little boy 2 years and 3 months old and I can honestly say with no reservations that if this had happened to him they (the local penetentary) just well get my cell and three square meals a day ready until I get my Lawyer on the stand, but anyway those 4 kids/young adults are all old enough to be tried - or of course had the same type of treatment returned in their favor if you know what I mean. You tell the young man that anytime he wants to go fishing he can feel free to PM me as well and I will get him out on the water - he don't need a dime. Take Care of that one brother - he is going to need a tight line of guidance....Later
