I'll be watching. I too am one of "those" that think space and what NASA does is fasinating. I follow the orbit paths, watch for them in the night sky and find it amazing that they can hit an object moving 17,000+mph and is no bigger than a one bedroom apartment. Pretty cool stuff if you ask me.

Sitting on my parents back porch in Canada is amazing, the orbiter passes overhead on every orbit, so, about every 90 minutes you can see it plain as day. Then, there are those times which I would like to forget when they are met with a catastrophic failure. I was living in Dallas when Colombia didn't make it. Waiting for it to pass overhead when the sonic booms were one after another and strong enough to rattle the pictures and plates. I saw the many vapor trails and knew what happened... a sad day indeed.

yup, I was watching NASA TV durring the Columbia's landing and remember the look on the faces of the control room personel when there was No Response from the orbiter

I also use the NASA "Sky Watch" to view the times and direction for viewing the ISS and Schuttles, very interesting to say the least
it's amazing what we learn form this, eventhough it comes from a very high cost in terms on people and tax $$$ but all well-worth it, imho......

gettin' close, hatch is going to close in 15 mins......

I'm glad somebody pointed this out. You hear absolutely nothing about it on the regular news. Thanks Randy.

When I was a kid my father worked on the Lunar Module at Grumman. Then when that program ended he moved to the F-14. I thought my old man had the coolest job in the world. At the age of seven I actually cried when he took a voluntary layoff to go into his own business. But that turned out to be pretty cool too. Not like putting men on the moon, but not bad.

Oh yeah, how could I forget. I got to meet a shuttle astronaut once. Really interesting guy to talk to. I won an autographed copy of his book 'cause I knew my space trivia.
