Are you telling me that as parents we raise them 18 years, teach them not to be stupid, then turn them loose in the world, because they are 18 and don't need to be followed around anymore??? YOUR KIDDING RIGHT???

I'm not blaming ARUBA, I do know that kids 18 can't walk in MOST BARS and get stupid drunk in the U.S. like they can in the "Islands" and that is a FACT!! To answer your question YES I will be following them around at 18 if there in the "ISLANDS", You can bet on it!!

IMHO maybe she was not altogether innocent in this horrible accident. Ya'll are right, in 3rd world countries, if you're old enough to step up to the bar, they will serve you. She got herself in that situation and maybe her friends could have helped her a bit more. I really thing think she passed out form alcohol poisoning, he thought she was dead, freaked and made a very stupid decision. I think he's a piece of crap because he didn't own up to what really happened, but what do you expect from a generation of kids who have grown up in a world of "time outs" and really think there are no consequeces for their actions. Not saying all of them are like that. I would imagine he was scared sh**less and thought of nothing but trying to cover it up to save his own a$$. But then we've learned that from the Almighty Media that doing a cover up is ok too as long as you don't get caught. As for the media, they will continue to ride this horse just like they do all of them until the next thing that will get them ratings. They don't give a rats a$$ about the family. Its all about coverage and ratings.

OK, I'll get off my soapbox now.

Something else to consider is...being that young and all of a sudden roaming around a place where the drinking age is 18, I could see a real problem with not have any idea where your limits or boundaries are, and if they were dipping into some high octane rum, it would have snuck up on her so fast she'd have had no idea what happened. Its not the 18 year old drinking age, its young tourists from the States being so sheltered and naive to the social effects because we've to a point villified alcohol as some vile demon juice. Yes kids see a handful of parties and have gotten smashed with their close friends a few times by that age, but very few have walked into a perfectly legal night club atmosphere and gotten purposely wasted out their minds in a public situation among complete strangers.

Any way you cut it its an ugly and extremely sad situation.

and i'm already listening to statements with no factual basis from hillary and barack please tell me, how in your opinion did they "botch the investigation"? and i'm not picking on you, i just have noticed that people say somethings that i just know are not correct. they get repeated and become fact after five people repeat it. perhaps, i'm an idiot too! i'm just trying to find out. thanks.

    RAT PACK BASTTTERRRDDDSSS

I live in her home town...my kids go to the same school...needless to say I've followed it...Aruba no doubt botched the investigation...(from a U.S.A. hindsight perspective) almost as bad as the OJ deal here...but that's their style too, not that's it's wrong, it's just the way they handle things I guess...especially when your dad is a high ranking official of sorts as Joran's dad is or almost even sadder, still may be...pathetic B's. The three kids (rat pack) even called Joran's dad for advise on how to get out of or cover up what they had done...there's some class acts involved for sure.

IMO, they saw their target...separated her from her friends and parental chaperones shortly after some rhohipnol (sp?) and let the drug and alchohol do it's number... they all had their way with her on the beach, she faught-back at first and then passed out (???) We will never know for sure. But Joran did admit on hidden camera that "the ocean is a big place"
Joran's boating buddy made short work of her i think, but what do I know...nothing for sure. They all even talked about her underwear in one interview!
(I apologize in advance for my opinionated opinion...sorry for the rant folks, but this whole thing hit home ...litterally.)

He and his little coward friends WILL rot in hell. There is NO doubt! Vengance is HIS.

i didn't say they did botch the investigation.... i said they may have... i don't have enough information to make that judgement.... my point was you can't blame the local authorities for her death...

i live in a third world country... most of the justice here doesn't make the papers or the television...

once again the phrase "botched the investigation"
but i do thank you for a complete rundown of what happened. and the fact that you live in her hometown only adds to the truthfulness of your version. certainly you jest?

I'm saying you can't protect them from everything so you have to teach them how to handle it.... disallowing / shielding them from this or that will work for a time... i had a very strict upbringing and my reaction to that was to be very rebellious - especially once i was on my own at college... sudden complete freedom in a different town in a different state a thousand miles from home at the age of 17..... you think I couldn't get alcohol back then or your 18 year old can't get alcohol in the US today????? This shit will happen right under your nose...

I'd rather know what my kids are up to so we can talk about it... and we do.... and I'd much rather they know the ugliness that lurks out there so that when it steps up to their faces.. they will not be unknowing and surprised and hence, unprepared....

    like i was

he said that he did not know if she was dead. it is very possible that his actions of calling a friend and getting him to dump her in the ocean was what killed her! at a minimum he was worried about himself instead of her safety and that is criminal. especially if he gave her some date drug, than he is the ******* that shld burn for killing her. they gotta try to establish the time of death, the later it was the worse it is for this jerk.

he is a friggin pompous dope but they got his ass now. he is gonna fry for this, i see negligent homicide/manslaughter type of charges at least, something less than 1st degree murder but serious enuf to fry his ass.
